I imagine this might be similar in some other states, but in Adelaide we have seasonal Abo's.
What this means is that during the hotter months of the year a bunch of them will travel together from their rural communities up north to the city and live in the park lands around the city and do their thing here for a few months before returning home. Usually the occupied parkland area is west and south of the city but this year a large number of them set up in North Terrace so I had the pleasure of seeing and smelling them every day on my way to uni.
I was personal witness to any number of shouting matches and physical altercations. If you want stories about what they were about you need to talk to someone else, because even when they're speaking English its damn near impossible to understand a single word.
I saw one abo passed out on the pavement at 4 in the afternoon while another abo was shouting at them and kicking them in the legs while 2 police officers attempted to roll them onto their side and clear their airways.
One day when I was heading home one old abo woman (think of an age range between 40 and 70 where years of drug/alcohol abuse has left you unable to pinpoint any specific age) tried to stand in my path to get my attention. She was drunk to the point where she was visibly swaying and could barely hold her hand up to get my attention. I side stepped and kept walking, then turned back to look about 20 paces away and she was still in the process of turn around to face me again. It was somewhat reminiscent of the scene in Shaun of the Dead the morning of Z-day when he goes to the shop.

Here's some abo yarns for ya;
I used to do some work aboriginal communities and have seen the following.
- A pack of feral dogs chase a pack of feral horses through the local school. The locals let the horses roam around and the horses were semi-tamed, the abos would just grab one when they wanted to get somewhere.
- One community was a 'dry' community, so no alcohol allowed. There was this big tree outside of community limits, I think was about 50m from the border of the dry zone. The abos would wait under the tree until their 'cuzzes' drove over from the nearest non-dry town with goon sacks and metho. They would all lay down under the tree and get smashed. The police would wait at the boundary of the dry zone and arrest anyone who crossed that line with grog, or was too pissed to walk straight. The basics card might have put a stop to this though.
- A kid broke into my car for me with a coathanger when I locked my keys in my car.
- Some abo couple going from fist fighting to fucking in the street in the space of 3 min.
These were the most abo things I saw, there was a tonne of general nignoggery but that's nothing special.
The communities ain't too bad to work in if you are a whitey, you get extra pay, no one expects you to really accomplish or improve anything - many have tried before you - and the abos save their violent crime for eachother. Hit another abo, rape your daughter, beat your wife and you get a slap on the wrist; do that to a Gov worker and you are going to jail for a long time.
