Is Australia ready for Big Kev becoming the new PM?
>>
I see nothing about a leadership challenge on ABC news

Libs wouldn't change again, Malcolms public support isn't below 50% as never has been, and If they changed TWICE in a single term they'd be absolutely obliterated come Sep
>>
>>69856263
What we NEED is FNQ statehood & for Bob Katter to be PM. We need to fuck with the establishment as much as possible.

How many bottles of hair dye does he use in the morning?

Kev is just a stalking horse who makes challenges to damage the leader before someone else brings him down.

He knows he can't be leader himself because of his autism (creepy variety).

I miss 1980's aussie politicans like Keating and Hawk. At least they were characters.

He was considered the worst minister in the Howard government.

Alot of people here in FNQ are talking about statehood. It comes up in conversation twice a week.
We want a divorce from the south east. Youth unemployment is 20% in Cairns and 30% in the scrub. Its completly fucked.

Never going to happen

Australia, when are you going to get an eccentric populist? All the cool countries have one now. Even Canada has one now. Pic related. It's the "Canadian Trump."

Marxist degenerate cunt who disguises his lack of a good argument with "hilarious" jokes.

That video lacks any proper or effective arguments. He's literally just saying that the free market is dumb and magical and people that believe in it are inbred goblins.

Though, he clearly has a good taste in vidya, I've heard both Rome music and Oblivion music in that video.

Our politics are pretty mundane, it's hard to describe but generally it's both hard to really become sucked into and we're far from being ideologically ambitious or patriotic enough.

I guess we just like it more quiet, let bureaucrats do their thing in the background while our country becomes progressively less Anglican and more Chinese. It's hard to do really tap into our populist sentiment because we as a country don't have that much connection to the Commonwealth, or a very interesting history at all. We spend more time crying about our foundation then celebrating it.
>>
>>69859740

>>
>>69856263
it's not happening

>>
>>69859741
That's sad, Australia seems like it possesses such a rich natural beauty, why wouldn't you be celebrating it, even if you haven't been a country that long, Americans are prouder than any Eurokeks and they've been around forever.
>>
>>69858360
How's employment related to separating from the south east?
>>
>>69859741
>progressively less Anglican
We haven't been Anglican since like the 60s m8. Catholics are the largest religious group here and have been for decades.
>>
>>69859892
>it will never happen
Yes but he can do some serious damage trying m8.
>>
why can't you guys have a PM for more than 3 years
>>
>>69860053
Sheeeeit, same here in the States, we used to be majority Protestants but lot's of Catholics came and they are the majority now. I personally dislike the monopoly on Christianity that the catholic church has in some countries, it allows corruption to foment.

You're right, it's a beautiful nation with so much potential, but you Americans got to experience a revolution and then a civil war, a lot of patriotism affirmed into that. We on the other hand just kind have happened, we have our moments of greatness, but they're not really praised.

Instead, we learn about how much suffering we've caused to the fucking Abos. We never were taught to have pride, rather to feel guilt over the poor helpless abo and his plight because of the evil whitey.

>>69859987
Yeah, you're right, I meant to say "British" or something along those lines, Anglican seemed like a good choice since.
>>
>>69860097
>serious damage

I don't really see how. Most of the right faction (his faction) wouldn't even support him. I could see a tilt from the right, but there's no way they'd go with someone as uncharismatic and boring as Kevin Andrews.
>>
>>69860165
Opinon polls. Once they start showing bad results for a party, the MPs start panicking and put someone else in.
>>
>>69858480
...... You have a point. Plus you had Reith and all his corruption.
>>
>>69860412
m8 Kevin Andrews challenged Turnbull when Turnbull was opposition leader before Based Tones.

Yes of course Andrews was never going to win, but the mere fact that Turnbull had been challenged damaged him and opened up the way for Based Tone a little while later.

>>
>>69860363
Yeah, we do have a lot of pride because of military prowess and our victories in the past. I can see why a lack of that would prevent a strong feeling of patriotism.

You still have a lot to proud of though, it's a great thing to create a first world country that itself is worthy of pride.
>>
>>69858883
WA hasn't been serious in decades and nobody gives enough of a shit about North Queensland to let them have a valid referendum on the issue.

Can an Aussie give me a brief rundown of politics in their country? What are the big issues, who are the candidates /parties, are there any memes like with the US elections?
>>
>>69859086
Basically a system that's designed for 2 parties and a third minor party in the senate.
The two major sides of politics have basically collapsed and rebuilt themselves every now and the but neither has really done this since the early 80s and now they're imploding. Plus party identification in the public is deteriorating rapidly with Labor and the Coalition having no idea how to respond.
>>
>>69859892
Yes but last time he set the foundation for based tone.
>>
>>69861002
Interesting, thanks, it's good to see a party that's not leftists call itself liberal.
>>
>>69860165

>What are the big issues
The same ones as in any other western country, Economy, immigration, education, healthcare etc. Housing prices and Republicanism are two issues that are specific to Australia, I guess.

>candidates /parties,
Labor (main centre left party), Liberal/National Coalition (main centre right party) and the Greens. There's also a clusterfuck of independents and minor parties (like Libertarians, Motoring Enthusiasts etc) in the Senate.

>are there any memes
Not as memeable as the US, but there's been some.

He's actually really great. I think all parliaments needs a high school drop out "common man" in there just to keep the elites on their toes.
>>
>>69862009
He's pretty based

He stood up to the Liberals with all their bullshit in the first budget. He's been unemployed and on welfare himself so he's really the "common man" like the other guy in this thread said.

I'll be voting for him in the next election.
>>
>>69860983
Big issues?
Free Trade

>Liberals
are pretty much completely pro free trade but more towards the TTP side of increasing legal power of multinationals

>Greens
Somewhat free trade, but more about using regulation to promote small business and are fairly distrustful of big business. The party is pretty divided between the Old Left and Neo Liberals on the issue of economics and trade

>Nationals
Hate free trade but vote for it

>The micro parties
Most are extremely protectionist with the exception of the Liberal Democrats and Family First since they are just disgruntled ex Liberals

>Labor
They are both for and against free trade but would rather here what you think maybe when the time is right

>>

>12 more conservative Senate seats
Labor gets lots of votes in the North Qld towns m8.

Also only the original states are required to have the same number of senators. New states admitted later can be allocated a different number of seats.
>>
>>69857782
He's okay when it comes to most topics, though I feel that he hides his overall lack of making a real statement with simply insulting whatever target he's chosen over and over or straw an arguments.
I don't like Malcolm turnbull, but a shitty strawman of him being a renaissance leader is just stupid.
