Summercamp in Virginia in 1999 or 2000 was my favorite memory. The night before we got there we stayed the night in an armory. I slept next to a tank. The military lost a plane nearby so there were low flying aircraft all over the camp that week. Freaked me out a couple of times. On the second to last day some kid almost choked to death on a meatball in the dining hall. An older scout performed the heimlich maneuver on him and saved his life.

Used to be a Polish scout (in Canada).
Their where multiple different camps based off what city you where from, and at midnight you could go to another cities camp and raid other people's camp and do stuff like vandalize outhouses, knock down tents, throw canoes into the lake and steal eating utensils for points. Only way to stop a raider was to take his bandana on his neck or basically tackle him. Also had guard duty until 2am for each tent of people a day because of this (there we like 6 tents of 5 people average) .we did this up near Algonquin park.
Did you guys do stuff like this? It's probably my favorite childhood memory, doing night raids and being sneaky breeky with charcoal on your face, and when you get caught just start running and yell kurwa at the guy chasing you.

No, but we did a Survivor camp out where we went out with nothing but bare essentials and split into 2 groups, and we had a series of competitions for various amenities. Gatorade, food, candy, etc... My team lost every single competition and we camped in squalor while the other guys had a feast. They at least gave us a can of EZ cheese. When we were done with it we threw it in the fire and it exploded. 10 minutes later we heard a boom in the distance. The other guys blew up their can too. It was fun, but being on the losing team sucked.

There was a really creepy dad that volunteered as a scout leader who had two unwashed kids (think the McPoyles from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia), one skinny and one fat. Sometimes all three of them would all just be off wrestling and grinning amongst themselves.
Another scout leader used to say he had a condition where he couldn't hear anything in the room he's in if everyone's talking in it, but he can hear a pin drop in the next room over. I took it as meaning he was pitifully impaired and felt bad and guilty. Later on I figured out that it was just something to make everyone in the room shut up. This made me feel emotionally manipulated and was a formative moment in the development of my capacity for trust.
At least scouts was something to do that wasn't all about the omnipresent Protestant family/school/church system I spent my youth in.

Eagle here, I wrote to Scouting HQ in opposition of gay leaders, when it was debated, as its in direct conflict with the organization's religious underpinnings and history. The best part of scouts for me wasn't scouts, it was camp; specifically working at camp. I worked at a high ropes course at Camp Yawgoog in RI for 3 summers. One of the best times of my life. At the age of 15 I was entrusted with the lives of the people on the course. If I wanted to, I could let them fall 35 feet to the ground, by simply letting go of the rope. Nowhere else would they give a kid that much responsibility. Gave me a sense of pride in a way. I taught kids to grow some balls and trust themselves, teaching them to repel off 35 foot walls at free fall speeds--something they only thought they could do in call-of-duty.

Eagle Scout here as well: I think Scouting has seen its glory days and is now a sorry shell of its former self. I went to a few different troop meetings a while back, and noticed that it was a lot of spastic 13 year olds with their dads doing all the work and them just trying to calm the kids down. The older scouts were loners just trying to finish up the higher ranks, and they weren't asked or expected to be involved with the younger scouts. I was visiting a summer camp that was my favorite back when I went there, and you had kids hanging out on their smartphones and whatever else. They skipped their merit badge classes because they didn't feel like it, then got the badge anyway.
