When we see in our televisions the green filtered, 2-hour lasting, psychedelic bombing of Iraq, the news reports are occupied by the Lewinski affair, it's fair when we, the rest of the world, decide to have our input on american politics, especially those of us under the NATO umbrella, but not exclusively of course.
Unions that brought this historic wage raise (not neoliberal policies, Unions), and in these times no less, have to keep going along with Sanders, just authorising someone to fix problems for you was never a solution.

Anyone have that compilation video of him claiming that we need higher and higher minimum wages? First it's 7.25. Then it's 8.50. Then it's 10.10. Now it's 15 bucks. And each time, he asserts that this will be the time we finally put an end to the struggle of the working class.

You can't pay people 15. They have to contribute that amount of fucking value to the company.

A McDonalds worker may only sell 15 burgers in a 8 hour period. If he makes 15 fucking dollars an hour, he's far exceeded what he made for the company in pay.

What bothers me is that it doesn't matter to McDonald's, or Burger King they can afford it. It's small businesses that get fucked with things like $15 an hour minimums, and boatloads of required benefits. Even if you make some "compromise", and say only corporations that make a certain amount of profit have to pay do these things small businesses lose because who the fuck is going to work for " mom and pop " when McDonald's is forced to pay you $15 an hour? Big corporations love regulation because it literally kills upcoming competition. Leaving only the labor force, and the ultra wealthy. It's fucking backwards.

>>
>>69830929
>It's small businesses that get fucked with things like $15 an hour minimums

you 've got a nice sense of humour, shitter. I 'm sure all the little businesses around the world blame the minimum wage first and foremost, it's definitely not the conglomerisation, monopolisation and venture capitalism that drove millions in unemployment and reduced wages so that people can't afford to shop at little businesses and as a result (because you obviously need things explained to you on a fundamental level) those businesses had to lay off Jimmy and/or close down.

The idea is that it's supposed to be a wage floor to prevent companies getting together, and saying "look faggots, you'll take the shit wage we give you, and you'll like it". Of course I believe the invisible hand of Adam Smith will guide companies to the reality that if no one can afford eat then no one is buying things, and then companies go out of business. If we are going to have some sort of minimum wage I think it should be decided by States because $15 an hour as a minimum might make sense somewhere like NYC where cost of living is that high. But it doesn't make sense in a place like Tulsa, OK.

The minimum wage is meant to reflect the cost of living in the current economy. A place like NY has a different cost of living than a place like TX. Making businesses pay the same amount in both States is absurd, and since this isn't in the Constitution it's a state issue.

You really fucked up this time.

Before increasing the min wage to twice of what i used to be, you should've secured your borders.

I've been a computer engineer for 2 years now and make less than $15 an hour (actually much less since the Mexican peso is worth almost twice as less as the burger dollar).

As soon as this reaches poor fags in Mexico with even less options, they will risk everything to jump the border.

>>69832892
>The minimum wage is meant to reflect the cost of living in the current economy

the minimum wage is a protective measure of the working class, given thus far by the welfare state.
And since workers are under such an attack during the past 40 years, it should be a constitutional issue, however I doubt that it already isn't. Current minimum wages don't reflect the actual cost of living anyway. That raise is already a joke if you ask me, but it still shows the potential of struggle.

>>69831663
Minimum wages don't work on the state level either.

When you impose a minimum wage you're saying that people whose work that does not justify a minimum wage will not get hired. This hurts mostly low skilled workers, poor people, and people fresh into the job market. A business won't hire someone if their work is not worth the minimum wage, that would be charity. What should happen is that businesses be allowed to hire people for what they are worth, even at lower wages so they can get job experience and on the job training to work themselves up, but we deny them even the chance to do that because minimum wages discriminate against low skilled workers, and on top of the shitty public schooling system, it keeps poor people in line for welfare and handouts.

Not to mention the other problems with minimum wages like price increases and more unemployment. When you raise minimum wages artificially, businesses will raise the prices of their good and services to make up money lost. The cost of minimum wages are redirected back at the consumer who has to pay more for goods. This won't hurt the people who get their wages boosted by the minimum wage hike, but most of the country don't work minimum wage jobs, so now their standard of living has been lowered

Also tulsa representing.

That would happen only in the absence of competition. When there is competition, wages will be raised because businesses want to try and get employees, and use higher wages and benefits as an incentive. If walmart was only paying a dollar an hour, most people would work at one of walmart's competitors for more benefits. The "profit motive" exists not only for companies but for everyone.

15 dollar an hour wage today is the same as a .26 dollar an hour wage in 1942, when the average hourly wage was actually .30.

The FED is eating the cheese while throwing us the crust.

It doesn't matter what the minimum is when the value of that minimum is eroded as policy.

i remember the last time they raised the min wage in my state. i went from a wage that was a few bucks over minimum wage to a wage that was minimum wage. was kind of pissed that it didn't go up desu. quit senpai

seriously it needs to be way more social than it is now. if robots are surely going to take away jobs in the next 100 years, i think it's important how $$ is split up between the masses in the future. Unless of course you're baller rich, which i think 95 percent of you here are just broke dick niggers. You are not part of their little club so stop sucking their cocks.

I think socialism like you have never before seen is inevitable, I think once all these baby boomers die off you will have a much more liberal government.

Minimum wage is just theater to placate the masses.

The people setting the minimum wage are the same ones promoting the policies that erode the value of that dollar.

Picking your pocket while convincing you that they are doing you a favor while doing it.
