Nixon was a good president.
Shame about Watergate, he got caught unlike the others.

I think Watergate is partly the reason why the religious right could take over.
Eisenhower/Nixon were very moderate Republicans by todays standards. Nixon would probably get accused for a socialist by Christie even.

Democrats leapfrogged over the republicans from being pro-white to pro-minority. Republicans have always been in the middle.

The realignment of the south was all the pro-white southerners saying to themselves "well, we lost the fight to preserve Jim Crow, so we might as well vote for the party that isn't going to make it any worse, so i'm becoming a republican."

Here, this video will explain how the 1972 election went:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_t8hpEKb4gk
>>
>>69806692
I think Bush and Obama are basically both a continuation of 8 years of Clinton.
2 status quo presidents, whatever little changed was because of the congress.
On foreign policies they're all just a bunch of hawks.

>Republicans, Pro-Civil rights, anti-Black Economic Empowerment
Nixon made The Minority Business Development Agency

>>69806778
And Nixon was more "socialist" on a few fronts than Sanders.
Price controls, even proposed a minimum guaranteed income the madman (FAP)

>>69806928
>Or is he just a Republican that forgot to switch sides?
That's basically Obama, Hillary the Goldwater girl too.

>>69806851
Nixon also only got less votes than Kennedy because of voter fraud.
>>
>>69806812
Legislation can be proposed and passed years before it goes into effect. A supporter of a passed, yet controversial act or bill can be gain or lose public favor.
>>
>>69806851
Nixon, he went against George McGovern (who was pretty much the Bernie Sanders of the 1970's and completely alienated his party especially after he dropped his VP nominee) and absolutely crushed him in both the popular and electoral vote.
I hope that happens again this year.

>>69807157
Yeah it's pretty ridiculous how crooked the 1960 election was with Chicago and Texas pretty much determining everything.
>>
>>69807157
>The Minority Business Development Agency

That's the sort of minor BEE policy that almost everyone agrees on. Sort of like, people who are against affirmative action aren't for abolishing minority scholarships and such.

The point of my post was that the democrats went from being the party of white identity politics, to being increasingly a party of minority identity politics. While the republicans were neither.
>>
>>69806928
Here's the list of things I can think of Bush doing right

>neutralizing Libya with diplomacy (which Obama ruined 3 years later)
>trying to reform social security (failed but at least tried)
>neutrality with Russia (which Obama ruined 3 years later)
>tax cuts after the 2000 recession

That's about all I can think of

Everything else was a huge mess.

>>69807717
True but she's more of a moderate establishment shill like her husband (although more off-putting than Bill was), McGovern was sort of a radical in the party and his campaign was grassroots like Bernie's (albeit not as much of a cuck as Bernie and actually a somewhat respectable guy).
The democrats will still back her given that she and her husband are still relatively popular in the party (not to mention the Bernie cucks will probably vote for her or stay home).
>>
>>69807869
Trump can come back because the last time he spilled his spaghetti is with the John McCain thing

I honestly don't know why he said that. He had to know that would sound awful.
>>
>>69808052
Well I don't think Bernie cucks will vote for her except for a small minority since Bernie fags are basically like the Ron Paul supporters in 2012 but I predict half of them would vote Trump due to both Trump and Bernie having some common ground
>>
I think Chris Christie could have been a fine president.

But he doesn't really care about privacy which is worrying
>>
>>69808080
Funny enough that McCain moment is what attracted me to Trump's campaign, it reminded me a lot of Ron Paul calling out those neoconservative dinosaurs for being warhawk faggots.

>>69808211
I dunno, they seem to have their heads up their asses so much over le Drumpf xD meme and hating white people (despite his supporters being 90% white), I wonder if they'll end up voting for the Green Party instead and giving Trump a small margin of winning similar to Nader and Bush in 2000.
>>
>>69805771
First of all, nobody was going to vote for a loser like Stevenson over Ike. Everybody love Ike.

Secondly, the Democratic party used to be the bastion of racist Southern whites (the majority) until LBJ passed civil rights legislation. At that point, the democrats permanently lost the Southern vote and the Republicans courted them instead as part of the "Southern strategy."

The rest of the country can be chalked up to a few different trends such as demographic shifts.
>>
>>69808211
You don't think most just won't vote? A lot of bern victims I know hate trump and Hillary about the same.
>>
Anyone else kind of hoping for a Trump victory but also having the libertarian party gain 5% of the vote so they get more ballot access?
>>
>>69805771
Romney happened. Why would a conservative get out of bed on Election Day to vote for a liberal?
>>
>>69808346

>>69808380
Well I believe some won't vote or write Bernie in
>>
>>69808380
Nearly all of them fall into this category. 33% of them according to polling won't vote for Hillary. That's already a gigantic number, but it also doesn't account for the % of them which aren't sure if they will vote. 33% of them guaranteed won't vote for Hillary and it is unclear how many of the remaining % will definitely vote for her.
>>
>>69808534
Fucking this too, ended up voting for Gary Johnson in 2012 because this snake was just Obama 2.0.
How did they think running Romney over a tea party guy like Ron Paul or Newt Gingrich wouldn't alienate their growing base?

>>69808779
Yeah I was actually pretty big into Rand's campaign when he was first running and almost started volunteering for him out in Illinois, I've found that a lot of Rand supporters are kind of split between going for Trump (to fuck over the establishment) or voting libertarian again like in 2012.
Some have gone for Cruz (like Justin Amash unfortunately) but it seems like nobody likes him at all especially after not showing up for the Audit the Fed vote.

Trump will pull 70-80% of the Republican Party (Hillary even less of her party), I'm sure a lot of republicans will go to Gary Johnson. But his major gain, ironically, will be from the Bernie people. I will be surprised if the libertarians get less than 10%.

John McAfee is my second choice behind Trump, on one hand I'm glad Johnson is being nominated because he will help Trump, but on the other hand I would want McAfee nominated if Trump wasn't running as I don't intend to ever support a GOP nominee other than Trump.
>>
>>69809195
Bernie people won't vote at all or will vote for Jill Stein (in insignificant numbers).

A lot of Republicans won't vote at all either, imo. There's plenty of disillusionment toward Trump in that field, but I think he'll still get more of the Republican vote than Shillary will get of the Dem vote. Republicans are more loyal to their party than Democrats. Right now there is widespread disillusionment among Dems that the party has moved too far toward corporation pandering centrism.

He started deregulation of airlines and interstate trucking. He also appointed monetarists to the Federal Reserve board.

1. Democrats support more immigration, will let in friends and family.
2. Immigrants more likely to be low income, Democrats support higher minimum wage and benefits programs.
3. Immigrants not culturally white Protestant, see Republicans as promoting white Protestant values + interests.
>>
>>69814286
these are marginal rates. You pay 10% of income between, 0-18.5k if you make more then you pay 15% of all income between 18.5k and 75k, etc. Marginal rates drop at 118k because there's a cap on the amount of income subject to payroll taxes - mainly SS and Medicare payroll tax. If you earn $250k you're only charged payroll tax on about half that income.

also the richer you are the more of your income comes from capital gains, interest, dividends, etc, rather than wages. Investment income a.) isn't subject to any payroll tax and b.) sometimes gets a favorable rate. Also c.) unlike wages it can be shifted around so you recognize income when it does the least harm, tax-wise. I have no idea if this chart accounts for that though
>>
>>69805771
It's called the Southern Strategy. Nixon and Republicans appealed to rich and racist whites in the South, while Democrats started to appeal to middle working class and blacks.
