I don't get these Bernie supporters. He's just pushing theft and control. I don't see how you get to be praised for your morals and "fighting for the people!" when all he's advocating is taking more money and power from the people and giving it to the state.
The main problem is that in the Soviet-style socialist republics, which Bernie supports and dreams about bringing here, had people starve to death all the time. Bread lines formed because centrally planned economies failed at providing basic necessities on a regular basis, meaning that as bread became available, you had to rush to the store to get it with your ration books before they ran out.
Sanders is also repeating a line you'll often hear from American communists and socialists, which is that the Soviet Union was more of a classless and egalitarian society than we have in America today. It couldn't be further from the truth. There was very much a class system and privileged senior party members, bureaucrats, managers, and politicians enjoyed the use of special stores, restaurants, and even hospitals that were exclusively for use of the ruling class. And, just like in capitalistic systems where rich families transition the privilege of wealth to their offspring, the privileges of seniority in Soviet-style socialism were also typically passed on to children, as one of the privileges afforded to the elite was access to the best schools and universities, which would in turn afford them a better chance at a senior position.
Do you really think a senior party member or a plant manager or a senior military officer stood in those bread lines? Of course not.
