Right now, the people he rents from are trying to sell their house, they've given him and his family notice and he's complaining to my wife how between him, his wife and both of his sons benefits, they don't have enough for a new deposit and first months rent.
We have just bought our first house and have exactly 1 spare room. I KNOW that he was hinting to my wife that if he becomes homeless because his evil landlord sells their house they'll be homeless and we have a spare room.
I know that if they move in, they will take over the house as theirs and treat me like shit. They'll never pay ANY bills and fill my new house with pot smoke.
My wife knows I don't get along with him. I told her they can't move in. No matter what. It would destroy our marriage since he eternally guilt trips his only successful child for more gibs with no shame.
He's one of the most petty people I know. He hasn't had a job in 20+ years. He complains that a forest fire's smoke killed his lungs and not smoking an ounce a day for 20+ years. I hate this man.

I had a similar issue with my wife's sister and her husband. Both pot heads who lost their jobs because of drug testing. Blamed the government and wanted into move into our house. Just put your foot down with your wife and explain to her that you didn't marry her to deal with her family. You could take it a step further and call social services if they have kids. I did that to my own brother when I found out he was shooting heroine and hitting his son. I ended up taking my nephew in for about 2 years until my mother bought a bigger place for them to live at. Brother is in prison now for beating his wife and kids, don't feel any remorse over turning him for it.
