Some parts of Miami are nice to live. Coral Gables, some parts of the Grove, Brickell and Key Biscayne, etc. But all things considered it's pretty shit because of the traffic and shit all public transport options.
We can't have a subway because of the water table, Metro rail coverage outside of downtown is inadequate, buses seem to be driven by literal mongoloids, suburban sprawl on steroids and the fact that the weather makes the city a soggy hell for a sizable chunk of the year means nobody bikes or walks (except for the cyclist assholes in spandex who think they're Lance fucking Armstrong and shit up the road)
Combine this with the fact that many of the people living here literally learned how to drive in Latin America. Signalling a lane change is a sign of weakness. Driving on the shoulder so you can try to cheat traffic on the highways is pretty much a given. The number of cars allowed to make a turn on a red light is however the fuck many people want to make the turn.
In short, no, it's a terribly planned city that forces you to drive everywhere. There are other major problems, but piss poor planning is probably the worst.

If you don't have a car you're pretty much fucked since Public transportation is shit and you need to go anywhere. That been said, she was coming from living is Orlando. which she absolutely loved.
