That's just incorrect, automation gives an incentive for Socialism/Communism without a doubt. Capitalism works very well until the third wave of industrialisation, in which Technologies, rather than reducing the labour needed to be performed by each person begins to completely displace labourers altogether. In the US this problem is compounded with the emergence of developing nations which provide cheaper alternatives to native labour that cannot be automated, having the same effect of displacement. Technology and automation under capitalism replaces workers while preserving the surplus that goes to the owner. This means that as society becomes more productive and efficient (better automation), more people end up unemployed and unable to afford their needs, while there's also then more competition for the fewer human jobs left, meaning capitalists can pay workers less because someone else will do the work for less if one worker doesn't.
The reality is that if you can do more work faster, cheaper, and at higher quality, then quality of life SHOULD go up for the society, problem is modern capitalism isn't designed to take advantage of this, as it presupposes employment as a pre-requisite for prosperity. Under Socialism/communism, the more you automate, the less each person does work, and the more they benefit from the work being done by the machines (because the machines are owned by the workers)

Large cash reserves haven't been a guarantee of monopoly power for a couple decades now. These days, innovation is everything, and economies of scale are a distant second.
As for cronyism, I never once said that capitalism could co-exist with statism any more than communism supposedly could, and I'm pretty sure I and a couple other posters have pointed out multiple times already that the whole problem with cronyism is that it is not capitalism.

But admittedly there is a problem with the control of raw material, land, water etc. Can't do that as a cottage industry. I can understand the need to break the monopolizers up. Private armies are a thing (in part due to the desire to break down the nations and their armies, or the perception of this at least) and future private militias directed at anyone are scary as fuck.

If you want to be a Capitalist, you want to control people and live off the fruits of their labor. There is no denying it. You can try to paint it up in pretty words but you're still a petty dictator and a parasite off of the work of others.
The options are work for a wage or starve to death for lack of an alternative. Technically it's a choice, and the better choice is to work for wage labor, absolutely.
But you can not claim that your society is voluntary and non-violent.
When the only options are submit to your authority or die, there's really only one option, and it's being forced on you by someone who wants to control you to make themselves richer.
