Most people work for someone/something other than themselves. They work for their families, friends, and loved ones. They work for their communities, even country. They work because they want to make a difference. They work for a cause that they deem is more important than themselves.
People who live for themselves are no different from animals that do what they do to live. Animals would only help fellow animals because it's a survival tactic that increases their chances of survival, instead of helping others to save them.
I'm on SSDI because I have some kind of frontal lobe problem that makes it hard for me to keep track of things in my head, so I'm always forgetting or losing things. I get $773 a month in SSDI and $198 in food stamps. Section 8 is closed in my state, and I'm on a 2 year waitlist in a few different towns for public housing.
This isn't something you want to rely on for the rest of your life. If you don't work at all, you will be limited to living in public housing projects, and will barely scrape by with $100 to spare at the end of every month. In European countries the NEETbux meme is actually a reality because they'll pay for your housing and give you quite a bit to live on monthly, but in America it's just a meme.
