The USA "works" at its best when the many different cultures assimilate into one blob of bastardized European traditions and generally lightish skin (which is why blacks have had a hard time melding in while 5+ generation of European or Latino immigrants tend to be okay).
Even then areas in the US with little to no different cultures interacting tend to be nicer and safer.

Multiculturalism does not exist.
There is no single country where all cultures can be represented and practiced freely.
Even in the United States, people MUST conform to American society and American laws. That right there makes many practices in other cultures impossible to do without breaking the law and being arrested.
Multiethnic does not mean multicultural.
