Is the Acne industry all just a scam to keep selling more products?
>>
that doesn't make sense

what is the scam

If its a scam, who is the perpetrator? Who creates the initial problem? The government putting fluoride in the water?

Go back to bed, Dick.
>>

As an acnefag I can tell you the price of these snake oil 'treatments' is extortionate and half of them do nothing or make the problem worse.
They also disillusion you from finding the true problem that is causing it

How can clean and clear be real if our acne isn't real?

i use a prescription retinol cream, a cortisone cream for immediate irritation, and a benzoyl peroxide lotion for breakouts, I use cetaphil (generic cvs kinds) face wash and my skin is fine. The retinol is the important thing it brings the oil to the surface and makes it easy to remove acne lesions with no scarring.
Anyone here watch Josefa Reina?
She does acne vids on youtube, like pimple popping

Try turmeric mixed with a bit of water, plaster on effected areas and wash off.
Might leave you a bit yellow unless you are brown.
Can add lemon to reduce the yellow.

You mean genetics? Just go to a dermatologist and he will prescribe some antibiotics or peroxide and boom acne gone.
>>
>>69676798
Use salicylic acid from the red stridex. One of the few acne products that actually work.
>>
>>69677383
Literally the GOAT solution for my acne here, it costs like 70p a bar too as opposed to £5 a bottle. Charcoal soap is top level too.

The big brands that advertise on tv are usually shit. They don't work and I think that's what OP is referring to.

OP if you really want some help go get a basic cleanser that's gentle(something like cetaphil gentle). Get some BP(2.5%, only use 5% if 2.5 isn't available and avoid 10% at all costs, that shit is too strong), and olay sensitive skin moisturizer.

I went my entire teenage years not really trying any products because I was already convinced they wouldn't work. All I tried was some face wash in the shower, which didn't work.

I'm 20 now, and I started using this stuff a while ago and it was really effective pretty quickly.. I didn't think I would get clear skin like I have now.
>>
Do you mean, does the acne industry only give a certain level of clearage so you keep having to buy their products?
>>
>>69676798
Yeah, it's all a scam. There are no creams/cleansers that actually work for acne, but may help for very mild "breakouts" (one, maybe two pimples).

They only thing that can treat acne is isotretinoin.

No, Acne is caused by Bacteria which live on the skin, unhealthy lifestyles lead to inflammation which allows the bacteria to breed like mad in the anaerobic environment of your pores.
Source: I work in the professional beauty industry.
>>
>>69683595
Sun can cause oxidative stress and free radical damage. These lead to inflammation which lets bacteria p. Acnes breed in your pores.
>>
>>69676798
I had huge acne problems all the way to my mid 20ties, decided I had enough and went to a dermatologist. She prescribed me this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isotretinoin and that managed to kill the problem for good. The therapy lasted 6 months and my lips were dry as shit but it was fucking worth it.

Might be worth considering if nothing else works for you.

First, buy a set of 7 towels you can wrap around your pillow each night, only use once per night, then at the end of the week wash the towels in an antibacterial wash, avoid bleach.

Second, I use this scrub on my face. Nothing more, as you don't want to dry your face out.

Accutane is the fucking worst thing that ever happened to me. It fucked with my hormones and my brain in ways I wouldn't wish on anyone.

They put me on it when I was 15. In three months I was so mentally unstable I was punching holes in walls. At six months I was experiencing schizophrenia-tier delusions like waking up and thinking family members were dead. At a year I was a full blown basket case. I robbed a wal-mart because I thought my friend Jacob had been kidnapped by the otters in the electronics section. I have never had a friend named Jacob and all I stole was a cart full of mouthwash.

I remember these times like a nightmare I never woke up from. Things that were totally irrational made perfect sense, and things that were totally rational made no sense or were just rage-inducing. It got a lot better when I stopped taking it but it still took three months for the worst effects to taper off.

It's been almost ten years since I took it and I still experience schizophrenic breaks. I know that I'm the exception and lots of people take it with no problems, but if I could change one thing about my life I would go back and tell myself to never fucking take that pill.

I have mild acne that spikes occasionally, and I know that those products are shit, but my acne stems from a petuitary disorder that makes it so I have to get hormone treatments, so washing my face doesn't always fix it, and it just constantly comes at me no matter what I fucking do. I have tried it all, the diet, constantly washing my face, intermittently washing it, some of those scrub things from OPs post, never the pharmaceutical route though, I have heard horror stories about that shit. I think I'm just fucked.
>>
>>69676798

If you have acne maybe you are taking too much b12 somehow?

It's not likely but i never had bad skin and then for a few months starting taking b12 supplements and near the end i broke out in spots like you wouldn't believe, they just kept coming and for every 5 popped there would be 8 new ones.

It's something to do with bacteria which release inflammatory chemicals in response to b12.

I stopped taking it and my skin cleared in a few days.

If you are getting "acne" from food intolerance, that means you're allergic to that food -- and that isn't the same as acne.

All acne is genetic: all acne. Acne medication is to lessen the occurrence of it.

Yeah. The only reason I got taken off of it was because someone sued my dermatologist for over-prescribing it and his replacement took us all off of it. My family got a $450,000 settlement out of it. I don't know how a drug that resulted in as many lawsuits as it did lasted so long.

>>69687588

According to the hygene hypothesis, which has been increasingly accepted amongst the scientific community, the cause of acne is an overactive immune system.

Since western civilization is so clean compared to the rest of our evolutionary history, the immune system essentially gets scared that it doesn't have find any serious environmental pathogens to react to. It then primes itself to the benign acne bacteria so you get bad inflammatory reactions towards it- e.g. acne.

If this is true then the solution would be to go to some shithole while the immune system is developing so it can prime itself against an actual hostile bacteria. This was proven true in epidemiological studies in Africa where basically no one gets acne because there are more important bugs the immune system has to worry about.

The issue is now how do you stop the immune system after it has been primed towards these benign acne bacteria. Researchers aren't sure but a lot of immune manipulation is going on in the field of cancer so that may yield a solution one day.

At this point, once you have acne it's probably too late. Your only solution is to wait to adulthood where the skin microenvironment changes and less acne survive, or use Accutane which blocks production of the acne bacteria food source so they all die.

I had severe cystic acne. Went to dermatologist, she prescribed me a few meds which didn't work well. Six months later she prescribed me Roaccutane or Accutane or whatever you call it. Went back four times to check liver values while being on it. Had extremely dry skin. Painfully dry, had to use vaseline on my face. But I didn't have any other major side effects really and no permanent ones. The inside of my nose became a bit dry, and I had a bit of blood in my snot I guess.

Six months later my skin was literally flawless. Now two years later, it's still like porcelain. I've had three spots since then, in a two year period.

It's a scary drug, but it's insane how effective it was.

>>69689761
