Yes they have made it into a community and the fact is some of them need it.
Where I come from there are a shitload of religious families who will disown their son/daughter the instant they dont believe in the religion.
These disowned people might have no friends or family outside of that religion and humans being pack animals, most need a community or at least a couple of friends, so it's a good thing atheists come together because they are atheist so they have some common ground.
I myself am not one of those from religious families, but I can understand the need for such atheist communities.
