I don't know, but in New Zealand we're a small country. The country I live in takes care of it's people through many socialist programs.
For example:
• Minimum wage is set at $14.75/hour.
• Students get $215/week allowances. Student loans don't increase by interest rate, they can be paid over decades and only when you start working.
• Everyone gets free medical care until we're 18, free accident care for life.
• Sickness, disability and unemployment benefits, accommodation benefits are there for people that are unable to work for whatever reason.
• All families get paid to support their children
• Pensions for persons aged 65 years and over
Our government is now talking about universal basic incomes for all people, one party is talking about having free college tuition for the first 3 years, instead of student loans.
So why can't this happen to the United States?

Bear in mind this statement isn't an "economic proposal", but a very narrow policy paper concerning only the regulation of the financial sector (Wall Street). I regard it is being largely nonsense that will increase transaction costs/friction and distort other prices and incentives, but it will never make it out of committee anyway.

This reduction in taxes would mean people have more green in their pocket and they're willing to spend it.
As there is a rise in a demand, the supply will rise as a result.
Businesses require employees to produce the goods they wish to sell, and this rise in employment will increase the fluctuation of money."
This money will begin to increase in value as a result of market prosperity.
And therefore people will be able to finally live comfortably with the minimum wage which is already set, since increasing the minimum wage would result in inflation and an increase on the cost of living as well as companies laying off workers and maybe even industrializing to ensure higher profit.
In regards to health, universal health care would force insurance companies to find other methods of making money since they profit from health services, and the accessibility to free healthcare would drop their profit margins and insurance premiums would go up as a result.
In general services and products tend to deteriorate in quality with governmental economic intervention, due to the idea of meeting needs instead of demands.
