I was born here, but my parents moved here from Europe.
The sea has your typical tropical fish in it, there's reef that surrounds most of the island, and that's where you'll find most small fish, and within the reef you can find shallows with stingrays, they're quite common.
As for bigger animals like sharks and manta rays, there aren't many manta rays around but i've heard of sightings of them in deeper waters, and most of the bigger sharks can't get past the reef, but if you go far offshore, you can find tiger sharks, hammerheads, etc. but they wouldn't pose a threat to anyone on the beaches or within ~1km off the coast.

The costs of a lot of smaller things, like groceries, electricity (utilities in general tbqh), etc. are slightly higher than they'd be in the US, but for most people, the costs of living are pretty much on par with those of the US/UK.
A lot of people will move out here thinking that they're going to be able to save a lot because of no income tax, but in reality, it's only really worth it if you're quite wealthy.
The locals are black (they like to call themselves mixed, some even consider themselves white), but they're mixed at best. I'm not sure of exact figures, but I think around 40% of the population would consider themselves mixed, ~20% white, the rest will be some other group, we get quite a few south east asians who come out here for work.
But really, if you go to any of the tourist areas, or any of the nicer residential areas, you won't find too many locals, and the ones you do come across are certainly better tempered than the blacks you find in the US for example.
Thankfully we don't get many british tourists for whatever reason, most of them go to either the Bahamas or Florida - but the ones we do get tend to be the worst. Most of our tourists are Americans and the vast majority of them come on cruises, so they don't stay for long, but on your average day, there's around 4000-13000 tourists on island at a time, but most will only spend the day before they get back on their ship and head off to their next stop.

The most expensive thing is the accommodation, if you stayed in a hotel you're looking at around $1200 minimum, but if you stayed in some kind of apartment or something (you'd probably need to rent it for longer than 10 days, but i'll go off the cost of 1 month) you could probably find somewhere for as little as $200 which would be a good quality 1 bed 1 bath kind of deal - it may cost even less but it depends on season, etc.
As for food, even if you were to eat out every day, that'd probably only amount to around $130 or so. I spend around $100 a week or so on groceries, and you could definitely do it for less than that.
Flights out here are expensive though, so is stuff like gas/petrol.
Another thing to consider is that a lot of hotels offer seasonal jobs where during the peak tourist seasons, they'll take on people and offer them cheap lodging and food, but it's quite hard for people to get work permits out here.

Well, it honestly depends on what country you're from & what your occupation, but I know that pretty much since Obama went into office, the US has cracked down on allowing US citizens to move out here & made it quite difficult for them to obtain permits.
This is the same with the UK to a lesser extent, despite us being a british overseas territory, and local passport holders being considered british citizens (although the local passports aren't the same, they have the same function as british ones) ordinary brits with an actual british passport aren't free to live here, the most they can stay without a permit is (I think) 2 months.
But from most other European countries it shouldn't be too hard to get a permit. It's really just done on a case-by-case basis. So long as you've got a local employer who is looking to offer you a job, you can get a permit for up to 8 years before you are forced to leave (you can return after a year) or if you gain residency/become a status holder.
A lot of these measures are to prevent people from coming over and essentially hiding money - although this never really happens too often with individuals unless they're either mega-wealthy. It's usually just done through holding companies.
But to apply for citizenship here as a foreigner, you have a few options; you can either marry a caymanian citizen, in which case you gain citizenship by proxy; you can work here for a certain number of years, apply and be granted citizenship; or in some cases, if you invest in property and own it for a certain number of years, you can apply for citizenship (don't quote me on the numbers, as i'm not 100% sure, but I think it's like you need to own more than $300k in property for 4 years before you're allowed to apply for citizenship) - but i'm not entirely sure as they keep changing the laws around most of these issues.

Just one last point is that the local government is also not super in favor of foreigners coming over here to work as a lot of the local blacks aren't employed. They've gone as far as to impose quotas on businesses, requiring them to have a certain number of local workers for every foreign worker they have - this has caused problems for the financial sector in particular as not many locals are actually qualified to do this kind of work, so what ends up happening is that you'll get 2-3 locals doing the job of 1 secretary or some other low end admin job, just so that the company is able to still bring in qualified people from overseas.
