Well, FDR *was* a socialist. He on purpose infested the US Federal government with communists to appease the Russians. In the 1950s, Joe McCarthy and the House Committee on UnAmerican Activities found the records of communist recruitment, which was the basis for their concern that communists were all over the government. They were right. FDR fucking did it. Slap him with that.

Or you can mention that FDR's Treasury Secretary, Henry Morgenthau Jr., resigned and apologized to congress, saying that the New Deal and Keynesianism prolonged the Great Depression.

So yeah, FDR *was* a socialist. And it was terrible for the country.
