The frog started off as a meme in 2007-2008. Originally called Pepe he was the champion of ASMR related feels. Feels good man he used to say.
Then the meme magic started getting more intense over the years, and the power of Pepe became undeniable by most. Soon Pepe rose through the ranks of memes and even defeated Wojack the feelscuck for the top meme position of 4chan. Pepe has become an inseparable part of 4chan culture and general alternative underground culture as his ability to enjoy the small things was extrapolated to the general ability to enjoy the bad things of life (i.e schadenfreude), which the denizens of 4chan are very keen on doing.
It has recently been discovered that Pepe himself is actually a representation of the ancient Egyptian god Kuk/Kek who was always interpreted as a half man, half frog deity. Through our meme magic we had somehow unknowingly woken an ancient beast and are we are now actively working to help Kek manifest himself into our mortal world and become our new messiah.
