You can interpret the bible to support socialism (often in South America) or capitalism (Protestant work ethic) depending on your views, among other things. Distributism is neither, it does stress charity in place of the welfare state, but also is against monopoly capitalism, state socialism, for fear that they both rob individuals of self reliance.
