Law-abiding citizens meanwhile, have stricter and stricter laws forced on them because they submit willingly with no resistance.
Cops are cowards, they talk a lot of smack about joining up to protect people, but for the most part they're around for the perks of being an authoritarian shitbag with cool toys who can use force to hurt or kill others with none of the social downsides that come of it.
We need a fundamental reorganization of how cops function in society. Top to bottom. What we have right now does not work.

Cops are fucking terrible with weapons. Departments need to introduce high levels of tactical training with handguns instead of just shooting paper targets. I'm talking shooting on the move, engaging while confined within a vehicle, as well as drawing and firing when the target is lie an inch away from you. I worked as a weapons instructor for a while when I got out of the marines, and by far police officers were the absolute worst operators on a routine basis

There is a lot of truth to this. The guys I knew from high school who ended up cops are all three former jock douchebags who used steroids and sold weed. I wanted to be a cop once upon a time and I had a hard time figuring out why I wasn't passing the written tests while these guys were. I'm no Einstein, but I'm really good at taking standardized tests. The last police exam I took was 150 questions, and I am absolutely positive I got at least 145 of them right, and the other five I took educated guesses. A couple weeks later, I got a letter in the mail from the department saying that my score was rejected and that I was no longer being considered for employment.
