they are a large minority group inside of turkey. if they allow the kurds in iraq and syria to form a kurdish state, the natural tendency will be for the kurds inside turkey to revolt and give turkish lands to that kurdish state. the turks will fight to the end to prevent east and west kurdistans (iraq/syrian kurds) from having a combined land mass.

Out of the 80 million pop of Turkey, there are 11 million kurds, but more than 9 million are assimilated / integrated.
