Not true. Egg industry is separate from meat industry. Male chicks born in the egg industry are not killed for meat, they are killed as chicks and their bodies disposed of. Female hens born in the egg industry are killed when they are too old to quickly lay eggs, and their bodies too are disposed of.

I got one of those as a Easter gift when I was kid (lived in the country), although it was the type that had green dye injected into it while it was still an egg. The rooster was a light green color for over a year until it faded away into white. He lived for a few more years after that until a coon got into the chicken coop ripped his face off.
