I refinished the stock and coated it with boiled linseed oil to bring out the grain, so it's lighter than it was originally. The cosmoline was boiling out of the wood and making the shellac finish bubble and crack, and it looked like ass. And since I took that photo, I stripped the plum bluing off the bolt carrier and polished it up to give it a more original look. Milsurp purists will cry about it, but it looks infinitely better now and the rifle only cost $200 so I don't give a fuck.
