You're basically right, but I found it pretty funny. The point of the film was that they should accept the old predators as they're friends and equals I guess. This is a pretty unsubtle metaphor for minorities or maybe just people that are different.
However, when you think about it, they are portraying these people as natural savages who have somehow overcome their bloodthirsty nature. Basically: black people are naturally vicious and have now been civilized.
I guess the writer's room was too busy patting themselves on the back for being inclusive to really think about what they were writing.
