I've been doing RCIA for a while but I'm thinking about giving up on catholicism. The RCIA process is to me in and of itself wholly unchristian. There is no reason or biblical precdent for why I need to learn about CHURCH TRADITION and wait until Easter just to be baptised.
In the Bible large amounts of people were baptised simply for accepting Jesus.
Furthermore, no priest I speak to is able to logically reconcile the fact that church teaching is to baptise a baby ASAP as there is a risk of death before baptism, which doctrinally would mean the child COULD be unsaved, although it's assumed "a loving god would let that child into heaven"
Furthermore, that baptism would be considered valid even though the baby could in no way CONSENT or UNDERSTAND the process of it all.
Yet despite that, an adult has the same risk of death if not higher, and they are cool waiting years until you finish their fucking course. And the priest has the Gaul to tell me "we can't just baptise you as it wouldn't be valid hurr" WTF?
It literally makes NO SENSE.
The only way it kind of makes sense is the protestant view which is that a baptism of water is symbolic of joining the community only, and there is a sort of "true" baptism of the heart which occurs much earlier and informally.
Seriously, this whole thing has shown me what huge hypocrites the Catholics are as well as how intellectually dishonest the priests are. Presumably because they refuse to admit they wasted their lives being virgins idk...
