Hmm... Well I am by no means an expert on nuclear war.
But any nuclear war is an apocalyptic prospect.
When I first got stationed here I was blown away with the clinicalness of it all. Like my job is literally to ensure MAD happens.
If it actually happened i would live only slightly longer than the rest of the population on the surface.

I think this is the reason things never went hot during the Cold War and after. Even under communism the Russians were reasonable people and they knew as well as we did that "duck and cover" wouldn't do shit when the bombs started flying.
