It's a dictatorship last I heard, the dictator guy has a real big cult of personality and basically wrote a holy book of sorts with himself as the main character or some shit like that. I might be confusing Tajikistan with Uzbekistan though.

Most of its population moved to Russia. They had a jihadist problem too but Russia sent troops and solved it for them. But the country is virtually abandoned.
