I travelled in Iceland and it depends where you are.
If you are in Reykjavik or Akureyri then the people over there are very liberal but I believe Icelandic people are liberal out of lack of knowledge and a mix of naivety. When I talked with one about how there are no-go zones in Dutch cities such as Rotterdam he was suprised.
Anything outside of these 2 cities mostly keep too themselves and don't look like hardcore liberals in anyway but I might be wrong.

Do you express this in someway? I worked on the bridge projects in the westfjords for almost a full year as a welder, and the local workers were quick to invite me to their social drinks and activities.
I weld in other countries quite often, and the Icelandic were quite open (compared with other nordic people I worked with) in my opinion.
