Like I said, the Gregorian Calendar and the Late Julian Calendar were almost purely designed around important feast dates and public holidays regarding saints and the life of Christ. The sole reason why it's so widely used is because the Western world has become such a huge centre of trade and culture, that it simply forces other people to adopt the same calendar lest they fall into the dustbin of irrelevance.
