I was fantasizing about this very thing earlier this week.
The plot line was set in 2045. Europe had tumbled into massive depression and civil strife from unchecked immigration. The United States was doing alright economically, but wildly "progressive" to the point of real oppression. The world is hit by a massive EMP attack by aliens, sparking civil unrest on a global scale, leftist population centers in total meltdown because of a lack of food and electricity. The aliens (look like greys) launch small ground offenses using biological war machines (kinda like what you see in the anime series Schwarzesmarken). It seems like none of the civilizations in the West are able to muster an organized military counter-offensive against the aliens because social trust has completely been broken by immigration and cultural marxism. It is when the aliens start moving into the US heartland that they meet their first real resistance, the remnants of the Axis powers from 100 years ago whom locked themselves away in the hull of a massive Pleiadian (Nordic alien) ship that was buried in the Antarctic back in 1561 (pictured in the painting Vädersolstavlan). The Axis peoples that emerge have undergone a couple generations of gene therapy based on what they learned from the Pleiadian vessel. They also posses mobile combat armor (similar to Gundams) that is resistant to the EMP attacks which had crippled all other human technology.
The aliens are defeated. The attacking aliens were a very small exploration party that was dispatched hundreds of years ago (faster than light travel doesn't exist), they had calculated the humans would be much less technologically advanced by the time they arrived which is why they dispatched such a small force to wipe out the human race.
The rest of the story follows the efforts of the 20XX Axis forces to purify the world and rid it of marxism and the jews before the aliens come again. Evil jewish tricks and the Sampson option appear at this time.

The fact that we have life means we probably have resources here that they can't find in other places. Though I would suspect that any alien race advanced enough to travel around the galaxy would be beyond using oil, that is just one example of a resource coming from organic material that has been of vital importance.
