Is North Korea really as bad as they say it is?

Or is it just the Jewish media trying to make them look bad in every way because they are not controlled by the Jews? They haven't sold their economy and country to foreign interest / they seem very national communist.

It's much worse than we know. All we really know for sure is what life is like in the capitol, where life is just a big show put on to impress the west. Once in a while a tourist will come across non-ornamental soldiers, and they are all emaciated skeletons. We know that there were many starvation deaths in the 90s, also cannibalism. Under communism you are basically always one central planning mistake away from that.
>>
>>69352004
I don't think it's as bad as many people, or the general media, says it is.

Is it amazing and good and great?
No.

Is it a shitty hellscape?
Also no.

I think they're comparable to rural China. And if one considers them 'third world', or the like, they have managed to do better than many of their competitors despite massive economic sanctions.

I can dump some NK pics and answer questions on NK law and stuff if anyone is interested.

Only the strong and skilled will survive that famine. After millions of people die the government will have more resources to distribute between the survivors. You know the wold will not give a fuck about you and there wont be any help coming, you are on your own and you will have to endure it till it ends.

Compare with India, 78 million without water and starving atm, on full gibsmedat mode, white cucks will give them all the resources so they can survive and fuck up again next year, they will start escaping in mass towards Europe.

>Is North Korea really as bad as they say it is?
No it isn't.

>Or is it just the Jewish media trying to make them look bad in every way because they are not controlled by the Jews?
The corporate media uses this irrelevant country as a punching bag to pump up American nationalism (we're #1, they're poor, stupid, evil gooks) and to distract from the fact that globalization and the hollowing out of America's middle class by the corporations that run the media is building up the rest of Asia into a 21st century powerhouse. So CNN and the rest focus obsessively on some irrelevant poor country and infalte the supposed threat to a ridiculous degree.

>They haven't sold their economy and country to foreign interest
Yes they have, the North Korean elite would get on their knees and lick a Chinese businessman's sweaty balls for him to invest in their decrepit country.

>/ they seem very national communist.
They're very much into totalitarian nationalism, but South Korea is also extremely nationalistic, just in a different direction. China and Japan are also very nationalistic.

Hard to say. Personally i think the media is over hyping how bad it is. Specially with the brainwashing thing, like with how they teach them that they have the worlds only unicorn cave, or that Kim-jong un shot a hole in one first time playing golf.

So it's an intentional experiment to see what happens to humans when they are fed natural food?

This is a kind of conspiracy theory my dad would come up with. Not in that it's not plausible, but that it's such an unnecessary stretch not really supported by anything in particular. Might as well say super advanced ducks live in the alpha centauri system. Can't prove or disprove it.

Contrary to the popular belief, travel there isn't illegal. You can freely visit.

Now, ask yourself why nobody goes and comes back with good stories? Paid shills are being escorted the same way Walter Duranty was, as explained by Yuri Bezmenov. I'm always sceptical, but I'll give Yuri a pass.

Anyway, from recent underground news, free capitalist & market reforms are slowly but surely creeping in North Korea, which makes black market thrive, counter-info spreading etc.

North Korea will disappear in the next few years, either peacefully or by some minor conflict, but it's over for the fat despot and his idiot tankies in the West.

Depends on the restaurant and location. They do have money, and the money is used to exchange for food/goods/etc. and you do have an income from your work. But in addition to that, if you can't afford food, the state is supposed to provide it for you under their laws.

But the problem is that they don't have a mass amount of surplus food. So instead what you see most often in rural areas, but is present even in urban ones, is a "kitchen garden" - where every single individual grows foodstuffs on their balcony, porch, etc.

>>
>>69352004
My ex boss worked for two years in NK, he often told me some really weird shit about the place. Everybody is spying on everyone, and have to produce daily written report and essays about other people, themselves and communism... No heat during the winter, scarce food supplies if the crops went bad, people affraid of being recorded while having a normal discussion with a foreigner...

My university have a program with NK, and they send students here every year during summer for a couple of months. I had to teach them a couple of times and each time it was a weird experience:

-Students were pretending being in their 30's but looked much older.
-All of them had a good amount of gold teeth
-They were always divided by groups of five, 3 students and 2 non-talkative fake students much stronger than the other three, with sunglasses and blue-grey clothes...
-Every year they were insisting on visiting and meeting everyone in the department (usually asking a fuckload of questions and distributing us their official propaganda magazine translated in english).

I have a lot of other stories about NK, i was willing to go there while i was stationned in China but was always kind of affraid of going there because i am pretty sure they have a file on me already...

Knowing multiple people who still currently work in NK, visit their multiple times a year, etc.

Your experience doesn't at all mesh with theirs. I guess that's the power of perspective, or maybe just how people read others.

There is no requirement to spy on each other, there was no requirement for daily essays on ANYTHING. They do have a lack of food, but they have heat during the winter due to a mass conservation of electricity - so no lights, no electricity, and you get some basic heat primarily at night.

Their visiting students though are, I agree, annoying. I've met some, and I have some friends in China and South America who deal with them. Some are chill, but apparently a lot have this weird chip on their shoulder.

The whole country isn't as good as Pyongyang. I never said it was, and I keep distinctly making a separation in my answers for rural and urban areas.

but you are mistaken to say Pyongyang is the only one with electricity. Wonsan, North Hamgyong, etc. - especially the new Airport - do have electricity. It's urban vs. rural. The strongest electricity does, though, stick to Pyongyang.

If you're curious about how their grid lays out, pic related - I hope it helps.

As a legend to read the grid, here:

Blue & green - Hydroelectric power station
Red & orange - Fossil-fuel power station
Yellow - Nuclear power plant.

Tourists are restricted to special tourism areas. Tourists are not allowed in if they know Korean. The internet is completely forbidden to all people except high ranking officials. It is illegal to leave the country for any purpose. Their infrastructure is so shit they can't keep electricity running and so the entire country is dark at night. They continually build buildings that remain empty for the sole purpose of trying to look like a prospering country while at the same time being incapable of actually fooling anyone.

The people who live there don't actually know anything besides what the state tells them because it's so secluded there.

It's worse than people say it is, because we probably don't even know the tip of the iceberg.

Oh wow okay lots of misinformation Mr. "hasn't read their tourist requirements since the 2003 revision".

1) Tourists aren't restricted to special tourism areas. This used to be true, it isn't. Changed around 2007.

2) Tourists are not allowed in if they know Korean? Flat out false.

3) Internet is completely forbidden to all people except high ranking officials? No. it's more limited to those in urban areas who have access to higher economic zones. Even tourists can get access to the internet, including in a few of the hotels you can stay at.

4) Their infrastructure is so shit they can't keep electricity running so the entire country is dark at night? Not exactly. You're right that they can't consistently keep it up all over the country. you're wrong that ALL of it is off ALL over the country. Pic related. I've got various pictures of Pyongyang at night: from 7pm, 11pm, 2am, 4am, etc. So I can show that it was on consistently. Obviously this isn't true in rural areas.

5) Build empty buildings. No. They do have some, primarily old ones that fell apart, were built badly during the "Great Plans" period of Kim Il-Sung (which I can detail in another post if anyone is curious). Some of the newer buildings are already operable, pic related still.

Thanks for trying though.

North Korea is a very interesting country in the world right now.

I've talked to a few people that have been up there and they said it was kind of weird, but everything you get to see is alright.

You get an assigned guide that tells you what is happening while you're there, you'll dine in great big hotels with no one else there, and if you ask your guide what it's really like he'll jokingly say 'Oh I can't complain'.

I wonder if it was just put there to be a meme world enemy if Muslims don't work out.

It isn't the consistent killing of trees for firewood that fucked them. It's the Korean War. They used ALL of their lumber during that rapid period of time, and it has never grown back. Supporting statement from the US Military Handbook on NK:

"During World War II and the Korean War, the Korean Peninsula was
nearly deforested. As a result, only scrub tree growth and relatively
young forests exist. Areas not classified as cultivated or built-up are generally
categorized as forests. Areas that contain trees over 6.1 m (20 ft)
occupy only one-third of South Korea and are usually dense with tightly
spaced trees that are generally less than 10 m (33 ft) tall. In these forests,
maneuvering vehicles is difficult because trees are so closely spaced."

Military. Spam building construction while expanding, exporting it to China/Russia. They were not smart during that war period in terms of long term planning.

As a result of that, they have a NUMBER of laws in place that direct how to handle the environment, and detail crimes for harming it - no doubt since they sort of want to grow some back since it is an important resource they would rather not have to bother importing.

Of note, in thinking about the deforestation, is that it wasn't an issue prior to the war - and historically there have been mass numbers of people in North Korea - particularly in Pyongyang - from their owners (in a tributary sense: chinese, japanese, mongols) to themselves with mass population. So it would be strange for it to suddenly be an issue only now, when they never had electricity before.

The war fucked this up, and then the following famine fucked it up even more. Pic somewhat related, land usage:

>. I don't know enough about farming technique to say what they're doing right or wrong, but if you can comment on a few of the farming pics in the thread to enlighten us all that'd be legit cool.
To make it short, they level of farming is how we did it in the 1930's. Everything is done manually, no kind of automation visible. I can't really blame it on North Korea, most of rural Asia looks like that, so does Africa. We are just spoilt on that matter.

Yes, all those rural pics and farming pics and people not in uniform are clearly the elite class.

Here, in this pic, obviously a piece of propaganda by the government to show you how rich they are, the elite class proceed to wash their clothes in an elite river.

Elite clothes, of course.

You do realise that there are dozens of scripts aimed at this site to automatically detect e-mail addresses posted here publically just so they can overwhelm you with spam for no other reason than to fuck with you, right?

They're the last truly communist place on the planet.

Imagine if they give that all up, go full capitalist, and explode with wealth?

It will be China 2: Electric Boogaloo
>>

The get aid from all over the world, even the United States send a ton of rice every once in a while. The North Korean government doesn't like to talk about it, but they have a hard time to feed their citizen properly.

every account of everyone who has ever left, every bit of party literature that's been printed in 20 different languages, dprk state media, etc etc.

Take that as you will.

Maybe it's not a thing anymore then. A couple of years ago /b/ had daily threads about posting e-mail addresses of people anons hated and having the scripts automatically fill their accounts with nonsense. It was a common knowledge never to do that, but maybe the ones doing it got bored with it. I still rather be careful and never do that, just in case.

No. The only 'proof' is the refugee testimony. The DPRK state media stuff and their laws and internal documents don't cover it. I know that because I read all of them.

But if you buy the refugee testimony, then that settles that.

Honestly doesn't seem all that much diffrent from South Korean methods of doing things manually and inefficently except they are depending on this ro actually feed a nation, not keep retirees occupied.

Though the world of international grain trade has severley fucked things regarding food independance for smaller countries North Korea really should have more mechinization especially since they obviosly have the ability to produce thier own equipment or borrow from China.

like the kraut said, a lot of asian countries are like that but they also aren't sanctioned up the ass.

north korea is the definition of second world. those terms do not refer to economic conditions but to their post WW2 allegiance and whether they were capitalist during the cold war

first world countries are america and its capitalist allies

second world countries are the soviets and its communist affiliates

third world are neutral, usually too unimportant to matter

read under the loving care of our fatherly leader. there are plenty of primary sources to support the claim of punishing bloodlines outside of escapee testimony. this was a policy in place since the revolution, it isn't exactly disputed.

the policy to wane under Jong Il towards the end of his life under his direction. No idea if Un is still enforcing it to the same extent.

>North Korea really should have more mechinization especially since they obviosly have the ability to produce thier own equipment or borrow from China.

North Korea does not have the ability to make their own equipment, they lack an industrial base and have to make most things by hand. They can mass produce basic tools and complex items like bombs, but they lack the ability to mass produce medium complexity items like tractors.

North Korea also has a bad habit of taking things and never paying for them, so no one will lend them anything or sell them things on credit.

North Korea are still using Volvo's that they got from Sweden 40 years ago, they cannot produce anything better. They still haven't paid for those cars either, so no one will loan them anything else.

North Korea works on a cash up front basis. They have to pay for goods in advance and they have to produce goods in advance before payment. They are untrustworthy.

Please drop some source documents on me.

I've got their criminal code in every edition and amendment since its origin in Soviet law, same is true of their penal code, constitution, etc.

I've read almost every speech and writing by Kim Il-Sung and Kim Jong-Il (including before he was leader and just followed his pep pep around). I've read their old newspapers, documents, published papers, their debates on how criminal law should work, some session notes from the SPA, and more.

I still haven't seen it. Clearly you've got something I don't, and that's cool - I would just appreciate if you'd share it so I can improve my repertoire.

Haven't seen anything from Kim Jong-Un on it either.

Even in the UN Investigation on HR in NK - on their list of evidence and mention of the 'three generation' stuff, their source is, and I quote from the document, "Ms. Jeong Jin-hwa" who said "in an instruction reportedly issued by Kim Il-sung himself". So if you have a primary source, you could even get the UN's attention.

Pls share!

North Korea is pretty bad.
They run their government in the lowest form, charismatic authority (part of the tripartite classification of authority).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tripartite_classification_of_authority

You have zero independence and are expected to kiss the ass of that fat fuck Kim Jong-un.
Jong-un has also been mouthy lately. We should respond back gracefully with a tactical nuke.

If you can make a gun you can make an engine, m8. Though it would require actual thought anda decent amount of innovation to make work geven what NK has to work with. Honestly think that cutting off all aid is the best solution. Either they nut up and fix things or they collapse.

Only Pyongyang where the political elites live is probably not that bad even as shitty as it obviously is. The rest of the country is probably even worse than we can imagine. I once watched some North Korean propaganda movie by some British guy who tried to make you think it wasn't that bad there, but they only focused on the family of a political elite and of course they have a nice life. Classless society my ass. Communists are a bunch of hypocrites.

It's sad too. I don't blame the North Korean people. They're just like everyone else except they've been brainwashed to worship their leaders. I pray for the day that their government finally collapses and they'll be free.

As chill as hanging out may be, I think making bank wins. That's some long hours though bruh!

Just as an aside, per NK constitution and labor laws:

Article 30. The working day shall be eight hours.
The length of the working day shall be reduced by the State in
arduous trades and other special categories of work.
The State shall guarantee that the working hours are fully utilized
through proper organization of labour and enforcement of labour discipline.

Story time?

>dad and his friends like trains
>they travel the world to see them
>one of them goes to asia in the early 90s with a few others
>after spending some time in South Korea he and his group take a charter flight to China on a small plane
>engine trouble not long after take off forces the pilot to ditch in the Yellow Sea
>everyone is unharmed and a distress call is sent out
>NK coast guard are first on the scene
>arrive with guns drawn and everyone taken is into custody
>taken back to the mainland, seperated and interrogated for two days
>no one knows what the shit is going on
>on the third day it's suddenly all smiles from the authorities and the group is given THE TOUR before being put on a plane to China
>turns out that when the plane failed to arrive the travel company contacted the British foreign office
>they in turn contacted the Chinese
>Chinese decided it would be worth checking to see if NK had picked them up before they bothered to waste money going full search and rescue
>funnily enough, there they are

>Chinese convinced NK authorities that the six Brits, two Germans and one South Korean they fished out of the sea are not spies, but a bunch of train spotters and a commercial pilot
>whole incident is quietly brushed under the rug
>remains the most terrifying experience in dad's friends life, with the Damascus kidnapping attempt in second place

>You ain`t going to see some guy on nork state TV making fun of the Kims
You won't see that happening in a lot of countries. You get up to 15 years in prison if you foulmouth the king in Thailand, yet nobody blames them for being too strict on that matter. If you are too harsh about the president in Turkey, they'll come and have a talk with you - and we may have them as an EU member soon.

It's not that uncommon.
