Unlike /b/ this board is meant for some discussion and if it gets too fast it might become difficult. At this moment threads die after approximately 30 minutes compared to one hour one year ago. Sometimes it takes a bit of time before interesting threads gain momentum and might soon be washed away because of the board being too fast for them.
/pol/ started getting shit after there was that period where there was no chptcha and we were thrown under the bus of spam, back when we were a libertarian board and not trumpfags. This probably isn't a good thing. New /pol/ users aren't quality users, they are just bored /b/ kids (about 17 years old on average) who are impressionable and will regurgitate whatever 'cool' thing /pol/ is doing at the moment.
Just look a the board right now, theres almost no quality discussion going on, it's all memes and unreallistic extremist ideas (yeah you can't just kill all black people and jews, it will never happen) you either circlejerk with the crowd or get insulted. I like free speech but /pol/ is becoming a hugbox, with absolutely no quality content. Back when /new/ was a thing and early /pol/ when people were mostly libertarians you could actually discuss several topics with 'educated' people.
/pol/ claims to love free speech but whatever goes against the central /pol/ ideology is 'memed' to death.

I keep /b/ and /pol/ both open all of the time, amongst other sections, when I am on teh computerz. There are a lot of things that get misposted. Tbh, if you have a modicum of common sense, /pol/ is one of the best unfiltered sources of news from around the world. I get my news from here, check facts with the rest of the internet, then usually refer back here to what's really going on. A LOT of news that doesn't make mainstream media here is very relevant to what's going on in the world.
