As a person a Jewish heritage but not of the Jewish faith myself I've come to see the the events of early/mid 20th century Germany as the result of a combination of the fact the jews have in fact often been used as a convenient scape goat throughout European history and the religious differences contributing to a preexisting bias, rising german nationalism in response to the dire straits their nation was in as a rrsult of the conclusions to WW1, and finally the fact that in the wake of the collapse of the Ottoman empire and the rise of the Soviet Union you had refugees from eastern Europe and the middle east who were largely Jewish flooding into the west.
Despite my sypathies toward the Jewish people the parallels of current events have allowed me to sympathize with the mindset of the common German of that period seeing as how I'm none to fond of the largely Islamic immigrants that are currently flooding into Europe myself. Similarly to post WW1 germany the current wave of mass immigration is the result warfare weakening the existing power structure of the region culminating in the Arab Spring and the collapse of many middle eastern regions the rising of ISIS to fill the power vacuum. The fact that the immigrants are primarily Islamic isn't the sole reason they are disliked but their faith does contribute to a cultural rift which causes contention with the native population which is further exacerbated by the economic situation and the outside presence clashes with the ideals of nationalism. It's not because they are Muslim and their are perfectly well adjusted German Muslims within the population but their ethnicity and faith unfortunately for the innocents among them becomes a convenient and straightforward if not entirely accurate means of identifying the outsiders who's presence seems to be detrimental to the natives way of life.
