Fun fact, prior attempts at womens suffrage had failed at least in part due to polls showing that most women opposed it.
This was not necessarily due to large numbers of women not wanting the vote per se - but due to their perception that voting rights were tied to draft liabilities, and they felt they were getting the better end of the stick there.

And the answer is simple. Young people are for the most part stupid, inexperienced and idealistic. They truly belive that they can make sure everyone is equal and that all people will never be bigoted, violent or hateful to eachother, because they haven't experienced enough of the world to understand how it truly works.
This is even more true with women, who are more pampered then men. The point at which they have to start taking care of themselves and learning how the real world works tends to be later on, as basic human biology causes men to protect and take care of them alot longer than is done with most men. This can be undone by good parenting, which is why women (and people in general) tend to be more right leaning if they come from rural areas, or religous families (assuming its a religion that promotes good values, like most forms of Christianity), or any type of family that fosters good, wholesome conservative and christian values.
Once a women (or a man) gets married, and we're talking a real marriage with love not some sham that most SJWs enter into wih a nu-male, and esspecialy once they have kids, they're forced to be focused more on the future and what's best for them and their families, get real jobs and as a result they become more conservative.
