Why would teens have debt

Cars, fuel, and insurance are far cheaper in the US than the UK.
>>
Cars and planes are economically more feasible and faster than train transport. Big cities also have their own tram system, like Japan. Trains are therefore used for cargo or amusement.

We don't need to pay hundreds of quid a week to stuff ourselves into a crowded shit cart three hours early to slowly arrive at our government-appointed job as a London refugee fluffer.

When China wants something built it takes the land it needs, takes the taxes it needs and gets it done because a single group is calling all the shots. In the US you'd have eminent domain battles, states lobbying for lines through their state, cities lobbying for passes near them, businesses doing the same. That's not counting the inevitable political pushback from the opposing party and citizens shitting themselves over taxes. It's not realistic right now.
>>
Even with a high speed rail system you won't get very far. Our major cities are spread out like there's no fucking tomorrow. Not enough people need to get from Chicago to New York in 10 hours to justify building an entire rail system.

Federal government already has issues getting funding together AT ALL. The current fractured state of congress will not allow for a big project like this. This is why we need Trump.

Locally, there are some governments that look into high speed rail, but it has bitten some states in the ass in the past when they received a shitty product.

I'm pretty excited for what Texas is going to do with the hyperloop, though.

Pretty much this. Population density isn't high enough outside of the east coast for a large high speed rail to be profitable. Big cities in this country can be as far apart as major European capitals. It takes us as much time to drive from Maine to Florida as it does to drive from Poortugal to Poland.

Yeah, we wish he had high speed rail too. Except that our country is bigger than most countries currently in existence out there. And the budgetary requirements for such an infrastructure overhaul, on both a federal and state level, would nearly bankrupt the country.

It isn't that I don't think it is a good idea. I just don't think it's plausible at this current juncture in time. I think we have a lot of things to fix with our roads, bridges, and utilities before we can even begin to look at rail expansion/upgrades.

NO!
You don't NEED that. It all depends on the policy you want to take. Don't make the same mistake Western Europe has done.

In Spain we have sacrificed the old train lines in favor of high speed rails. We left without communications many small towns before covered by the old trains (now they have to use bus), and it's still slower than airplane and usually more expensive. It's become a black hole to maintain these new railways too.

>>
>>69282689
You miss the point entirely. The US population is spread out across the entire country making high speed rail impractical for linking population centers. China is concentrated entirely on the coast making high speed rail practical for linking population centers.

What, you going to build a Chicago-Los Angeles high speed rail line? New York-Dallas? San Francisco-New York? Washington DC-Seattle?

people travel by plane, that's faster and cheaper in upkeep

people have no idea how much maintainance a high speed rail network needs.

Your trains may go 200-250mph but planes go 500+mph, it's much faster and with a country the size of the US it only makes sense.

At one point when it still existed as its own road it ran all the way from Chicago to LA.

Also getting a car is a right of passage into manhood in the U.S. It represents freedom to go and do things on your own, to take your own path in life responsibly, and independence. I know it's hard for euros who are 30 and live with their parents to understand.

We don't have a need for trains besides cargo and logistics. We all drive cars and have a country, culture, and daily life that revolves around cars. License is easily to get, cars are cheap(if you can turn a wrench you can be on the road for $1000 or less) and so is gas.

I have the freedom to go where I want when I want.

High speed railroads are expensive, and to have one that stretches all over the country like in Europe, is out of the question.

>Why doesn't the US have a high speed rail system?

Because mass transit carries a stigma in the US. The only people that use it are those that live in densely populated urban environments, like New York or Washington. For everyone else, mass transit is something they abandoned when blacks were no longer forced to sit in the back of the bus. Once blacks got free reign, white people just said "fuck it", and all went out to buy cars. Now mass transit is just for poor people, nig nogs, and big-city trash.
>>
We have rail systems within cities which are connected by rail to other systems in other cities. That's plenty good enough. I can't imagine who would need to regularly take a train from state to state. There is no point taking the Train other than locally.

Besides why would you willingly take a train? I ride the train and subway to work and it's full of nigger and homeless ppl.

The US has the largest and most dense rail network in the entire world. The just realized something that eurocucks and chingchongs didn't - that rail is much more suited to transporting freight than transporting people. And so, the US dedicates that rail network almost 100% to freight traffic. No one else moves as much total freight by rail as the US does, and only a few tiny ass countries like fucking Lesotho move more freight by rail per capita.

You see this shit? This is what a train is meant to do. And instead you cucks just use this great technology to transport millions of poor ass shitskins from Turkey deeper into Europe.

Amtrak is exclusively a commuter train for poor people. Actual Americans fly because even in a high speed train it'd take 2-3x as long to get from point a to point b than a plane. Eurocucks don't fully understand just how big the U.S. is because of just how tiny their shitty countries are.

because we have the most cars/population of any major country by a large margin the closest large country to ours is Australia with over 10k cars less per 100k people

Cars and driving are inseparable from American lifestyle and culture and have been since they became widely available for use. If you are going somewhere to far to drive, you might as well take a plane, and chances are, you will rent a car once you are there too. They fit perfectly with the American sense of self determination, you go where you decide, and you don't want to be confined to the destinations buses or trains can take you.
