Nationalism came here because anonymity is a boon. Half of /pol/ doesn't even like anime. Anime is just here because a lot of 4chans original population liked anime, since this website was founded on anime and Japanese culture.
It lets people see Japan for the great country it is and ask why it is so great.
I've been wondering that. It's commonly accepted on /pol/ that there is some marxist intellectual group that has been in operation since the early 20th century, which has been infiltrating our media and culture to subvert it to some twisted ideology.
It begs the question of whether there is a corresponding hidden national socialist/traditionalist intellectual clique that has survived to this day and does what it can to influence society.
Those intellectuals would have been composed of people from the Imperial and Fascist countries like Germany, Italy... and Japan.

The culture of 4chan and it's anonymity allows it's users to really post how they feel about issues and topics around the world. This doesn't mean the website as a whole is more right wing or left wing. If you actually do branch out to other boards instead of spending all your time on /b/ or /pol/, you will notice a more liberal mindset found in other boards, noticeably /lgbt/, /soc/, /r9k/, /mlp/, /cgl/, and /int/.
I can't really comment on Japanese culture as my only experience of nips are the few I have met through my lifetime living in the south, and watching anime and nip related dramas.
However, /pol/, is such a right wing board because at first it was a great way to troll the entire thread. Comments about gassing the Jews, making jokes about Nazi affiliation and the holocaust being fake became so wide spread after being started as a troll, lead to /pol/ actually getting on the radar of an (humorously real) organization known as the JIDF. This then lead to white supremacist and Neo Nazis to join in on the discussions of /pol/ as the JIDF started to flood the board with Jewish friendly comments and 'board sliding' anything not friendly to Jews.
This battle between the JIDF and Neo Nazis led to /pol/ constantly being board slided, and ruining any sort of real discussion to be had.

People who watch anime are more likely to be lonely and have fewer friends.
I'm not saying anime causes you to be lonely or that everyone who watches anime is lonely, only that those who are already lonely are more likely to watch for the escapism.
In my experience young people who spend time with lots of other young people adopt very liberal views to fit in. Those who have no friends, fewer friends or the kind of friends who don't care about your politics are more likely to be right-wing.

Anime is inherently reactionary. It's about aesthetics the same way classic art was about the skill of the artist to create the most aesthetic thing. Artists that create anime and manga spend their time perfecting their craft to every little detail.
