/pol/,

I don't know where else to go with this, I like you guys so I'll vent here.

I'm working a very high stress job, and lately I've been so burnt out from it(7 days a week, 12-16 hours a day). I'm currently sitting at my desk slacking off for the first time since I started working here, because I'm starting to hallucinate.

I'll sit at my desk talking to a client, and the client was even concerned in my speech dazing off and going off about "things I have never heard of" per the client.

I then looked over at my table, and the surface of it started to move and wave and act like it was liquid. Then a bunch of black bugs seeped out of it and were all over my desk.

Now I'm sitting here dazing in and out of thoughts.

I'm starting to feel scared, /pol/. What do I do?

Get off 4chan, see a therapist and take a vacation/quit your damn job.
>>
>>69262202

Obviously take a very large reduction in hours.
>>
Take some time off, sleep.

I got overworked once and it made it so that whenever I came, it gave me a massive headache.

Took a week off, after that I could masturbate but it wasnt so great, I felt weird afterwards.

Stress can fuck with your body a lot when you get older, it is kind of scary
>>
Just get some fucking sleep.
>>
>>69262202
get a small, non-time consuming hobby

maybe that cat collecting game on your phone
>>
>>69262344
I want to quit, but I have too many bills to pay.

>>69262436
I can't reduce my hours, it's forced over time

>>69262449
>>69262463

I've been sleeping 7-9 hours a night. I make sure my sleep is good. Last time I came to work on little amounts of sleep I nearly lost my job. I'm not tired, I'm just... I don't know. I don't feel anything at this point other than scared. Almost Apathetic.
>>
>>69262638
I have a band/play guitar and piano quite well.

It pays ~$18/hr. However, I get paid by the job, not the hours. We are under staffed and my employer doesn't want to hire any more people. I have no time to job hunt, and I have no time to do anything.

I got in trouble when I asked for an hour long lunch break so I could change the oil in my truck. Since I hadn't seen the daylight in 3 days that week it would have been nice to get done over lunch.

I was told that they'll allow it this once.

Then four or five months later I asked to leave before the sun goes down to help my mom move out of her old home that got foreclosed. My father passed away, and with that the money was gone so my childhood home is now being taken by the bank.

My grandparents are both in the hospital, only one of them even remembers me.

My mom is living off of life insurance and disappears for days on end. Likely shooting up heroin or smoking meth like she did before she met my dad.

Most of my money goes to dental bills/medical bills that I owe from a few years ago when I got hit by a drunk driver with no insurance.

I just now realized yesterday the PS4 came out... I used to go to /k/ all the time. I had a good life, I was happy - at this job too. Then my employer fired a couple of his employees and is now chasing buzz words to keep the business in "good synergy". Or some bullshit.

You're suffering from a form of psychological torture.

This is actually a kind of thing that has been documented in movies and shown through cartoons with scenes revolving around constant never ending insanity-inducing repitition that makes the character going through it lose touch with reality and eventually crack. Usually committing suicide.

I cannot recall what it's called, I don't even know if there's a term for it. But OP you need to get a new job. Stop wasting your life grinding 24/7, you will go insane.
>>
>>69263732
Jesus Christ dude that's some crazy shit. America really needs to sort this shit out, trapped as slave by med bills and a wacko boss. Is there anyone who can help? Is your boss allowed to treat you like this?
>>
>>69263350
I wish I had a career to brag about. It's a locally owned IT company for. I'm the only help desk guy. I have 87 tickets right now and I have 600 end user work stations and 72 servers I deal with. Plus Office 365 migrations, server migrations, new workstation inputs. All have to be done.

I used to care about this company but I don't know how long I can take this.

>>69264607
Maybe. I had to convince myself I still existed before I could even continue a few moments ago. I'd go deep into that but I don't want to bore you.

>>69264615
Most jobs in America aren't this bad, but it's a small business that's got a formally good owner who went crazy once he started taking advice from this fucking asshole who thinks he knows everything there is about running an IT company. I found out he's ran 3 businesses bankrupt... Because his employees left him.

>I've been sleeping 7-9 hours a night. I make sure my sleep is good. Last time I came to work on little amounts of sleep I nearly lost my job.

What why?
Any job forcing over 12 hours of work a day full time that doesn't tolerate sleepiness or lateness is managed by daft fucking idiots. And it's worse that it's 7 days a week, I had a similar job where it was 5 days a week usually 14 hours a day, could be as bad as 20- sometimes a sixth day was forced

Start leaving work early - like at 9 hours

>I want to quit, but I have too many bills to pay.

>implying life wouldn't suck under a different form of government

Life will always suck, that is something I've come to accept. I feel better now that I've vented. I can usually get away with browsing 4chan every now and then, but I'd be fired in a heartbeat if I was searching for a new job.

Unfortunately my home is an old family home in the middle of nowhere. Internet is inaccessible there and I only have 3gb of data on my phone. Already used it this month trying to load some job websites and filling out applications.

Dental and med

>>69266229
I got written up for being 45 seconds late. The UPS truck was in front of my parking space. My boss works 8:30-5 every day. No problem.

My bills are dental/medical bills when I got hit by a drunk driver(Walking, pedestrian) in downtown. He had no insurance. Fucked up some of my teeth. Didn't break any bones but it was still overnight at a hospital. I don't remember much of it, I hit my head on the ground pretty hard. Then there's rent, cell phone, firewood(For winter, it's how I keep warm), electric. No water because I'm on a well, which is nice. Car insurance.

>>69266337
My boss knows about that, he looks past it citing that 'People make mistakes'.
>>
>>69263732
Stop paying the medical bill.
Seriously. That shit is ramped the fuck up because they want to get the most they can out of insurance companies.

STOP PAYING THE BILL.
There will be a resettlement and you will have a good chunk of it dropped. It's unfortunate I have to recommend this, it flies in the face of conventional good financal sense, but it's literally the only way out.
>>
>>69266547
I haven't threatened it once, but I subtly implied it to see his reaction. it was brought up that they'll hire indians on visas for super cheap if they must. That is my other predicament.

Ultimately the best thing to do is quit, but I have no way to pay my bills each month and I don't want to quit and not have a job lined up already.

The medical bill has about $1000 left, the Dental bills?

From the accident, my bill was $15,000 due to some implants and a bridge, as well as a root canal. I've already had 3 other root canals. My entire front row are crowned and canal'd or what have you.

One day one of my teeth needed an emergency root canal. They did all that, put a crown on it. Cost me $200 after insurance. Against my knowledge my insurance maxed out.

Then the tooth to the right of it abscessed. Failed root canal. He didn't say anything to me. he just numbed it. Ripped it out then ripped out the crown my insurance had just paid for plus my $200 a week ago, then ripped out a perfectly good crown and put in a dental bridge.

This bridge is fucking annoying and horrible. I asked them to fix it, and they said they'll charge.

I'm paying them for the accident with the drunk driver. I don't think I'll be paying them for that $4,000 bridge that is a huge piece of crap and other dentists have said is a piece of crap.

Would be nice if I wasn't the only help desk guy who keeps the fucking business running.

We have a "service manager" who was hired on and I have no clue what he does. Just sits on facebook all day. Works 8:30-5. We have a "marketing manager" and all she does is shop for purses all day and bitches about how "stressful" her job is making sales. Then there's my boss who's a "Chief Operations Officer". He doesn't do jack shit all day but come up with ways to "better serve our clients".

Then there's the owner, who just listens to this asshole who's gone bankrupt a lot and push out this stupid ticketing system.

We have to account for every living minute of our time here. Through tickets. I got frustrated with this after I had the shits so I created a ticket named "Diarrhea in the Bathroom in our office". I went into immense detail about how it was runny, it stank, there was corn in it from the $1 TV dinner I ate the night before. I accounted for the 15 minutes it all took.

Then I get called into the office, no sense of humor, just got told to never do that again and to put it down as "office time".

The irony is a few days before they were getting on me for not putting enough detail in my tickets.

What ever.
>>
Standard hallucination situation.
>Take a week off
Sleep for first 3 days, waking up to eat etc
>The rest of the time don't watch TV or absorb new information, just do things (play basketball or go jogging)
Still get a lot of sleep
>Get back to your job but try to trim down the time
Slowly start formulating plan to have a less stressful job, you'll be able to make it happen now because you won't be as burnt out
>you will still be tired but don't worry because thats just the burn out, and it will take time to wear off
in a few months you'll be good as new
>cheers
>>
>>69267482
I do, I just need convincing to just get up and quit. I get paid weekly so I'd have a week to find a job. Thing is I do get paid somewhat decently for my age(24). I probably walk home with $700-$800 a week before taxes which also rape me.
>>
>>69266782
3 times shows there's more wrong than just mere mistakes. If he's so gullible listening to this idiot then maybe a good chat with just you and him could make him see more sense.
>>
>>69267913
>Take a week off

Already burned my 1 week vacation time. FML.
>>
>>69268133
I tried this too. I told him that what he's trying to do following his advice will run this country into the ground. His response was pretty much:

"Well, I fired the other guy because he wasn't following this process - it doesn't matter if we want to get bigger we have to have a process. You will follow it and adhere to it." Then a bunch of other crap of him repeating him self and him telling me I'm wrong and he's right and he never makes mistakes.
>>
>>69267313
>Against my knowledge my insurance maxed out.
Should have filed a suit - there are a ton of charges on a medical bill that legally cannot count against an insurance premium max - like taxation, administrative fees, etc

>I'm paying them for the accident with the drunk driver
Why isn't the drunk paying your medical bills, you didn't have time to sue?

>>69266925
If your boss files April 1st, the earliest he can get an Indian in is October 1st.
Call his bluff, next time go in and record everything he says, start collecting data for a lawsuit.
Record anything that could even possibly be illegal.
Start talking to workers. Get an idea how they feel.
Take longer bathroom breaks.
Put in your vacation now, for as soon as is possible. Use up all of your sick days save for 2 days. Go to a doctor and have him document stress, exhaustion.
Use the time to petition a union and resettle your medical debt.
Petition a union or honestly create one - go talk to DOL - this is important - he can't replace shit if there is a pending union vote, get DOL involved.
Start challenging him at every turn. Come in later, leave earlier. Make it perfectly clear he can go fuck himself and tell him this - he has no body, call his fucking bluff.
And talk to the owner with your concerns
>>
>>69264607
Disassociation is what its called. Its common in brainwashing procedure, to completely deconstruct a person's identity before giving them a new one. Cults are prime examples of this. Disassociation of the personal identity in favor of the group identity.
>>
>>69266925
Try to take vacation or sick days to rest and do some job searching.
But if you can't you may be right, just quit

As said start ignoring the medical bills and seek to consolidate and resettle - the only thing you should worry about is rent and car payment/utilities at this point
>>
>>69268512
>Filed a suit

The charges were for the labor and the bridge. They used some "fancy" material on it. Hence the price.

it just feels like a melted down toy.

>Drunk driver
He had no insurance, he had no money. Probably why he was drunk in the first place.

>Punjab
Vacation's already been used, and why only save sick days for 2 days?

I don't think there's any unions out here nor one I can start nor enough business for a union boss to see it as profitable. It's IT for a small business. We are the only IT company that deals with small businesses on contractual agreements in a 50 mile radius. Such is life in BFE.
>>
>>69267864
>Would be nice if I wasn't the only help desk guy who keeps the fucking business running.
This is called leverage, this is a good thing. Gather up some of the other more valuable employees and ask them if they're tired of working ridiculous hours. Go to your boss first by yourself and try to plead your case, if he doesn't comply, come to him with the group and withthe IMPLIED (this is important, dont say it blatantly) threat of unionization.
>>
>>69269190
I'm the only one who works ridiculous hours.

see

>>69267864
>>
>>69269041
You don't need an official Union to have increased leverage as a group. If 5 employees come to him at the same time, expressing their grievances, he might be more willing to listen, knowing that more than just you might quit.
>>
>>69267864
>Would be nice if I wasn't the only help desk guy who keeps the fucking business running.

So basically every statement you've made here is showing more and more how valuable of an employee you are.
Bypass boss. Go directly to the next guy in the chain of command (the owner or the COO). You should have been documenting this shit.
It's either A: Get better treatment, better hours, possibly even a new position, and a better pay rate or B: Fucking walk and let it implode on itself for fucks sakes.

Let your demands be known, they deny, fucking walk - take your clients with you if you can. Watch them call you back in a month when the office is on fire and your clients are jumping ship and money is hemmoraging

>>
>>69262202
Yup, you're burned out alright. That's why you shouldn't work 16 hour days, seven days a week. This is exactly what happens.

Take the weekend off. Get some recreation. See a movie. Get a girlfriend. Relax. Take a vacation. Then come back and work 5 days a week, 8 hours a day. You'll be more productive long term.
>>

COO is my boss.

Owner is best friends with the COO. They're all best friends together, and have been working together for 10 years.

There was a short period of time before the other guy got fired that he and I both went looking for jobs. We talked later on after he got fired, turns out we both had interviews at the same places. I managed to sneak mine into lunch or I'd say I was going to a clients or something. He took sick days for his.

Turns out none of those places hired us, my guess is because I'm not certified in much for IT. Certainly don't have the time.

As far as bills go I'll probably stop paying them. I was hoping to buy a house soon using my GI bill. My credit score is pretty poor right now as when I got out of the Army I was jobless for 6 months and fell behind. I'm trying to avoid that.
>>
>>69262692
>I want to quit, but I have too many bills to pay.
Sort these out first meaning go through your outgoing and see exactly what is essential for you to live. Think objectively about this and cut down on all the fluff and your have way to freedom from your self imposed hell.

If your still coming up short you must have a really shitty job or made some poor financial decisions in the past, if it's the former look for a better job, if it's the latter learn from your mistakes and just suck it up until you pay down your debts.

Scary at first seeing yourself and your life in a very raw way. After its very enjoyable. Saw jungle spirits, floating islands the sky with huge stone faces with water coming out their mouths, diamond seas, alien planes, god(something helped me out of a bad trip) and once thought I was a flower.

Good times

That's something I've considered doing. Liquidating everything I own except for things of my father's. I have some very nice, rare, collectible things that I will likely never be able to get again. It's just deciding on if it's worth it to me now.

I have considered going to a far away country, just a one way ticket. The issue I'm running into there is my grandparents(Who have a good few years on them). If not a far away country, then a state. I want to live my life outside of my state that I've only left a few times. See the world, do things. Go places. Travel.

Unfortunately that requires money.

Adding up everything I own, if I liquidate it all... that'll be... almost $6,000 of goods I could sell.

Not quite as much value as I thought I'd had, I guess. But that's getting rid of a lot of sentimental things.

But you know what, I think I'll put in my two weeks tomorrow morning and start looking.
>>
>>69270947

Seriously dude, no more insane overtime, if they want to fire you than fine, go on unemployment and look for a better job. As for the medical bills how much are we talking here? If it's a shitload talk to the hospital and try and work something out, it's either that or go bankrupt and they get pennies. They know this so they will might be willing to make a deal.

Why the hell didn't you sue the driver, while he had no insurance he may have had something of value.

Also seriously fuck your boss, he's playing you for a fool. If you leave and it all goes tits up he may come crawling for you to come back, that's a very risky move though, his head may be too far his own ass.

I met a Cali dude there who did exactly that. Mixed white/Asian and played a mean banjo.

Spent £3k all together, it's dirt cheap living over there, people are very friendly. Many times I go to a bar alone and get invited to a group and they shove drinks down you with out asking for a penny lol. Got free Coke too but it's not really my thing. Beautiful country too.

Yeah put your 2 weeks in take some time for yourself then when you're feeling better I'm sure you'll find something. If you can spend 12-16 hours a day working then I'm sure you'll put in a lot of effort finding something better and get it.

Best of luck man. I'm sure you'll be fine
