Along with being able to satisfy most wants in general. Replicators in Star Trek, from what I could tell, largely removed the need to grow food, which eliminated the need for food. I assume energy needs also became largely eliminated.
But even still, trade of money and capital was performed, along with resources not being redistributed, so a true socialist future didn't appear to be guaranteed, only that certain wants got largely removed from the equation.
I never grew into the 'liberal' leftist mindset.

It's honestly just brainwashing. From the time you're a little kid, your teachers are almost all left wing (and any that are not are scared to say anything). Even if they tried not to be biased, their bias would still seep through.
Anyone who went to school knows all the "bad" things and conquering Europeans did but they don't know the other side of the story. They don't know that Istanbul used to be Constantinople and Christian, and they don't know that Iberia was temporarily conquered by Muslims. Those things might be covered, but only briefly. I mean, in the Iberia situation, you are taught that the Christians and Ferdinand and Isabella were the true bad guys, not the invading Moors, and you don't know any better, because you weren't given all the information. Then there's stuff like slavery and colonialism, which are also covered dishonestly.

When a person has a good life and he didn't do anything to achieve that he gets bored, due to extremely comfortable lifestyle and throws away the urge to improve itself.
S/he finds out that on the internet (which is a huge as fuck problem too) that degeneratical tendencies are totally accepted now, or even preferred, and the whole system can be abused pretty easily.
They leave behind family, tradition, culture, everything what make them would feel proud.
Then comes the age where you are supposed to leave the idea that the world is big hugbox. but harsh and can be terrible too, but since many young people do what I mentioned above, this age happens way too late, or never.
