I'm a burger with a PhD in a STEM field that works in Barcelona.
I decided to take the job here because I don't really like working that much.
My salary puts me in like top 5% or so of Barcelona.
I typically come into the office between 8 and 9am. There is literally no one there. People show up around 10 or so.
At 11, they take 30 minutes at the café.
At 2 or so, they take a 1-2 hour lunch.
I'm usually gone by 4, but people do stay kinda late. Till 6 or 7 for many.
In general though, people don't get shit done. I put forth like 10% effort and am consistently rated at the top of my peers and get fat bonuses and stuff.
Spain is fucking awesome if you are willing to put forth the minimal effort necessary to be orders of magnitude more productive then then the natives.
