Cows are officially pulled in as man made global warming.
Not sure about volcanos though, they could count it in as man made eruptions if they find an increased volcano activity correlating with CO2 emission..

Yes

>>69224733

People do this on farms already. Its called a methane digester. The cow shit is processed, and the energy is used on the farm with the remainder being sent to existing methane gas lines for use.
>>
>>69224733
I tried direct ignition, hoping to secure some sort of steam turbine behind the cow. Unfortunately, it flashed back and detonated the poor beast, leading to a chain reaction which consumed an entire farm.

>>69223903
it's just a popular internet myth that volcanoes emit more CO2 than humans.

And volcanoes DO have a very real, measurable effect on the climate. There was basically no summer on the Northern hemisphere because a volcano erupted in 1815 in Indonesia. The eruption of the Pinatubo (1991) on the global climate also allowed climatologists to test their climate models.
>>
>>69225193
>You understand that it's carbon moving in the air/food/animal cycle?
It's methane gas, it's effect is similar to carbon dioxide. To much in the atmosphere makes it impossible to reabsorb.

The idea was for you to play about with it yourself. The overwhelming majority of graphs you can plot on it show warming.

>how did the coral manage to survive for millions of years if it's so fucking sensitive?

Because of the timescale involved in the changes. NASA reckon that a change of 1 degree C takes 1000 years. We've managed 80% of that in little over 100. This is related to the fact we've had higher temps in the past too. Yes, the earth can cope but it changes to do so. We are forcing change faster than it should be and as such the earths 'coping mechanisms' will be more violent and dramatic.

I agree. I think the first thing to be done is deal with the 'skeptics'; though. Frank Luntz for example made it policy under bush to keep the impression of ambiguitity. To paraphrase, 'the science is almost settled. What we should do is work to maintain the illusion that this is not the case'. The idea that it is all made up is what gives those who profit from inaction space to breath.

Those opposed to nuclear are just as bad though fission is not the long term solution. Without extracting uranium from seawater we'd only have about 100 years of the stuff if the whole world went nuclear. Thorium offers a solution as does fusion.

I thinkj the first thing to tackle is emissions through power generation as we do have an (albeit expensive) alternative. This would require international cooperation on a level that most won't accept though.

>we are claiming that for the last 19ish

You still don't understand how this is abusing statistics do you? 1998 was abnormally hot. If you use 1998 as a start point then yes, the difference between the peak of 1998 and the peak of last year isn't that great. BUT if you pick any other year as your starting point, the trend (warming) is visible again. One anomalous year does not negate a trend observed for almost 40 years.

Well the oceans are still heating so the total energy in the system is still increasing, not to mention the number of record breaking warmest years,months/seasons we've had recently. Of 2014, RSS ranked it (I think) 6th hottest. remember RSS is the datasource most commonly reporting lower values than others and thus the favorite of the 18 year crowd. UAH third. NASA have it at no2 behind 2015.

IIRC they were looking to replace bovine gut bacteria with wallaby gut bacteria, as wallabies did not produce methane when farting or shitting.

However, they discovered that wallabies actually burp out their methane, in a much steadier rate than cows fart out theirs (so wallabies will slowly release methane consistently, while a cow will fart every now and again and release a huge blast of it).

It's a shame because it looked super promising at first.

The methane exuded by cows is extracted from organic material already living on the surface. There's not a net increase in gases. Cows eat grass, produce methane, the methane is reabsorbed by the ecosystem.

Carbondioxide is a byproduc of burning fossil fuels that have been locked away under the ground for millions of years. For the entirety of our evolutionary development this carbon source has been separate from our living environment, partitioned off from the living atmospheric ecosystem. And now we're extracting it from its separate partition and pumping it into our own ecosystem. An ecosystem which, in its current incarnation, has never known this carbon. It didn't develop to handle this carbon because it was locked away under the ground while the ecosystem developed, you see? So if we take all that carbon, and burn it, and put it into the atmosphere, then something is going to change, because we are shifting the balance that we evolved to fit.

You are the future. Godspeed.

Nuclear energy is best energy, cleanest power source by far, all the arguments against it involve 'muh chernobyl', 'muh nuclear waste' or 'muh fukushima'. Kek, Chernobyl was outdated as fuck and mismanaged. Nuclear waste is dangerous yes, but they bury it so far underground who cares, no-one will find it there. And nuclear power plants aren't exactly designed to be hit by fucking tsunamis.

The damage those tree-hugging liberal idiots can do to the world is frightening.

Also global warming is not real, it's just an excuse to tax us. I saw something the other day that said that all higher CO2 levels in the atmosphere would even do is create bigger trees because they have more food, thus creating more precious oxygen. Did these idiots even pay attention in biology?

Pic unrelated.

Doesnt mean we cant cut this emission shit I dont wanna sound like a hippie but we can pump alot less shit in the air and keep more woodland we dont have to expand as fast as we do I mean the perfect solution is to kill chinks and niggers so we dont need half as much shit as we do now but that will never happen were fucked anyway tho
>>
>>69234302
The main downsides of emissions are acid rain, smog and asthma. I agree that we should burn less shit that emits gases like sulphur dioxide, as they have a detrimental effect on humans, but CO2 is literally plant food. If you want evidence of the dangers of smog, look at pictures of any industrialized city in China. There's a good reason they wear those mouth-covering masks.

>gonna attempt this?

What do you want me to say? The models have overstated the warming so may as well just through out the entire theory? That's retarded. I see you are at the stage now of recycling talking points so we have little more to discuss unless you want to offer an alternative theory to explain the observed warming.

And btw half a degree over this short a timescale likely is a big deal.

I..I didn't say it was. >>69228350

The nuclear plan survived both the tsunami and the earth quake just fine. What broke the plant were the placement of the desiel generators, which were put in a basement which then got flooded. So much for planning ahead.

It was also the poorly trained tepco workers who did not know how to use the emergency cooling system, which only needed water to operate. No power needed. It is designed to just boil away the heat. But they did not know it was not running, even though it should sound like a jet engine when in operation.

Nuclear is safe when operated by decently trained and competent people.

CO2 is also a GHG.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwtt51gvaJQ

It is a problem in itself. But yeah, the other factors you listed are pretty real too.

McDonalds can't turn the soy fields they burnt down the amazon to make into any other usable soy product. They have to be for feeding cows or we will have to bail them out.

well, glad you can admit even that, perhaps there is hope for you

73 goes by the IPCC
0 successes
73 failures

how much would you bet on number 74?

thorium fails safe and doesn't need backup cooling

>>69234995
95% of GHG effect is from water vapor, and we produce only 0.001% of it
>>
>>69235284

Water vapour is short-lived in the atmosphere. It acts kinda like the earths pressure release valve. Too much water vapour accumulates and it'll rain. This give the earth some capacity for dealing with the extra heat that is being trapped but also shows why the weather is more extreme today. The isue with co2 is it lasta much longer in the atmosphere, so even if we stopped all emissions of it today it would be a hundred years or so before the atmospheric concentrations started to come down. And just a reminder that (based on ice core samples) the earth sat around 280ppm for the past million years. Only since the industrial revolution has this started rising.

how much would you bet on number 74?
>>
>>69236011

That they cannot accurately predict climate (longview weather which is itself notoriously hard to predict) does not invalidate the theory. You accept it is warming right? Where is this extra heat coming from?

you serious?

even though they were wrong every time, they are right?
>>
>>69236699

The theory still fits. Take a step back.

Is CO2 a GHG?
Is the greenhouse effect real?

The answer to both the above is yes. With me so far?

Does human activity lead to accumulation of co2?

Again, answer is yes. The Royal Society link I left above shows an isotope study has determined much of the co2 added to the atmosphere recently was added by human activity.

Modeling the weather is hard. The climate much harder. The one thing they have been right about is that warming will occur. Have you any alternative mechanisms to explain this? If you were serious in your skepticism you would at least have an alternative.
>>
>>69237068
what % of the GHG effect is CO2? is it positively reinforced or negatively?

HURRRR
DURRRRRRRRR
I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT BASICALLY ATMOSPHERE SCIENCE OR ECOLOGY

I JUST LISTEN TO WHAT THE NEWS, AND SCIENTISTS PAID OFF BY OIL COMPANIES SAY.

NEVER MIND THE EXTINCTION RATE RIGHT NOW IS 1000X NORMAL BACKGROUND RATES.

SURE, THE EARTH IS JUST FOLLOWING HEATING TRENDS. BUT, LETS JUST IGNORE THE FACT THAT TEMPERATURES ARE RISING AT A FASTER RATE THAN EVER PREVIOUSLY OBSERVED IN EARTH'S LONG HISTORY.

LETS ALSO IGNORE DEFORESTATION RATES, OCEAN ACIDIFICATION, AND THE ONGOING NUCLEAR CONTAMINATION OF THE PACIFIC BY FUKUSHIMA.

HURRRR, DURRRRR.
I DON'T EVEN KNOW THAT WATER VAPOR IS THE PRIMARY GREEN HOUSE GAS. I REFUSE TO LEARN BASIC CHEMISTRY, THEREFORE THE AMPLIFYING EFFECTS OF CARBON DIOXIDE AND METHANE OF SAID WATER VAPOR MEANS NOTHING TO ME.

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE WATER CYCLE IS. TROPHIC CASCADE IS A MEANINGLESS WORD INVENTED BY THE LIBERAL MEDIA.

WE'VE DESTROYED 60% OF THE WORLD'S FORESTS OVER THE PAST 100 YEARS? YEAH, THAT ISN'T GOING TO INFLUENCE ANYTHING. MORE FORESTING IMO.

GOD SAYS ITS OKAY TO RAPE THE EARTH. IT SAYS SO IN THIS BOOK WRITTEN BY VIOLENT, HATEFUL, SAVAGES.

Source on this? I know its still up for debate but I've not heard one this low before?
>>
>>69237896
you mean the way you dodged my question several times

then admitted my facts were true

then claimed you were still right, even though you admitted your holy priest class scientists can't predict shit?

hahaha, your a joke m8

none of the IPCC models were correct, you admitted it. The "science" behind the prediction models is also wrong. You are now acting solely on faith, you poor deluded fucker
>>
>>69238363

You have no argument, no understanding of what you're talking about and no desire to actually look at the evidence. I don't know how many more ways I can say that failure to predict does not invalidate the theory.

> The "science" behind the prediction models is also wrong.

Non-Americans don't need beef to survive.

There are lots of animals that don't create bad emissions too (kangaroo? I think they're yummy?)
>>
>>69238736
>What part pray tell?
the bit that they based their predictions on

you already admitted they don't know WHAT THE FUCK they are doing

you say I have no argument, yet that is my main argument, they don't know WHAT THE FUCK they are doing, yet they want us all to still believe that they do

and more than that, they want us to accept higher energy prices(poor grandma freezing to death because of high energy costs, but who cares because planet!)

you know my argument, you agreed it is correct, yet you still have faith in your priests

DELUSION!
