I did law at university, wanted to specialise in family law and asylum law because western wymyn and divorce, and immigrants fucking everywhere.
I had two choices, solicitor or barrister. Decided to do barrister.

In Canada, child support is a set number with very few exceptions, based on federal child support guidelines. Spousal support is a range of duration and amount (if entitlement is proven), based on the spousal support advisory guidelines. It roughly equalizes 2% of the family's NDI per year of relationship.

Umm, sorry I don't have much of a clue what the heck is going on in American law school.
What I did that is basically a requirement is "mini pupillages".
It's where you shadow a barrister (attorney) for a week or so, a good number of them is 3. Law firms or chambers will not lift a finger for you if you don't do mini pupillages

Probably the most academically intensive year of my life
Studied music first for 4 years, realised I can't do anything with this useless degree that was also a complete joke in terms of workload (I spent 90% of the time playing videogames and still graduated with a 2:1) so I applied for a fast track LLB in law, basically the normal 3 year law degree in 1 year. It's nuts but I made it. Basically a conversion course. There are 3 grades, pass, merit and distinction, but you only need to pass it.

I'm self employed with my own office, I can whatever the hell I like.
Also, I usually always am the defence, I'm not doing any noble, glamorous VAWA stuff. but the vast majority of the time I am defending someone that is pretty much indefensible. Really my role is to just make sure everything is happening correctly and legally for my client. For example, my client could say he spent 9 and a half hours in the police station without getting a cup of water, if that actually happened and there's proof the entire trial could just collapse wasting a lot of time and money for everyone.
