Why would that not be the case for Korean as well? They're both SOV agglutinative languages with a large amount of homophones and Chinese loanwords.
And the Japanese usage of characters is more complicated than the Chinese usage, which was my point. Chinese does a better job sticking to the "one character, one meaning, one pronunciation" rule than Japanese does, although there are still exceptions there.

This is a weeaboo meme. There's literally nothing unique about Japanese that makes it better suited to Kanji than other agglutinative languages like Korean and Mongolian, which use alphabets. In fact, characters are better suited to analytic languages due to the lack of conjugations and inflections, which have to be represented in an awkward phonetic way. Japanese used to have an absolute disgusting mess of a writing system until they added the alphabets. It's actually a strange historical circumstance that the Japs ended up with this type of writing. There's no good reason why they couldn't write everything in kana with spaces or even in Latin or another foreign script, but they don't because it's an entrenched part of their society and they have no desire to uproot such an important cultural artifact and they've also gotten used to it.
