I think many European people don't realize this but having our eyes with a narrow opening serve an actual purpose. We used to live in very cold climates where ice and snow would come straight at us. And subsequent, we would squint, and those with small eyes were at an advantage.
Before Westernization, small eyes were considered much more attractive than large eyes.
