I spent a few months in Belfast. Almost everyone I met from the South did not give a flying fuck about anything while they were sober and had only a slightly nationalist bent when drunk. They were alright.
The super nationalists up North were incredibly friendly to me because they assumed that I, being an American, by default supported the RA. It was hard for me to not like them, but the whole victim narrative got old after the umpteenth time hearing it. Same goes for the few friendly loyalists I met, though most of them were cunts.
Hearing so many stories from all sides, I think everyone on the island is mad to a degree and wants to blame themuns, but like people elsewhere, there are tolerable people and those that you wanna shove a potato down their throat.
