Antioch is the pure example of how retarded Christianity can be sometimes (and I say that as a Christian). It essentially divided itself after Chalcedon, with both sides setting up separate Patriarchates (the other one is the Syriac Orthodox Church). Then during the Crusades they set up a Latin Patriarchate of Antioch. Then after the Crusades they got rid of that but one of the Patriarchate went rouge and that's how the Maronite Church was founded and again it got split in half. So all in all Antioch has Ben a Pentarchy in and of itself.
