It's interesting how the 30-06 seems ok almost everywhere. The shot gun is pump action so a few places have trouble with that but otherwise it is fine too. The .22 is semi-auto but it is just a .22... The mini-14 is pretty much just a hunting rifle here especially if you use 5 round mags in it. The 9mm semi-auto handgun is super common here but that seems to have a lot of trouble for our euro friends in many cases.

So only the first gun in category C could be bought with "only" a license, be it a hunting, shooting or ball trap one.

Actually, British law allows you to defend yourself to almost any degree if you have no possibility of escape, it's a back to the wall law, not a stand your ground law. If you're on the upper story of your dwelling and faced with an intruder you can make a reasonable assumption he's there to do harm rather than merely rob, and you're authorized to use any amount of force necessary and proportionate.
However, If you use a illegal firearm in this defence, then you are completely fucking fucked.

Those are some shit tier gun laws
In austria, anything thats bolt action and at least 90cm long doesnt require any license
For semi auto with at least 90cm length you need a license thats fairly easy to get if expensive.
Handguns require the same license.
No bullshit about magazine capacity or anything else
Only downside is that pump guns are banned entirely as well as any rifle thats shorter than 90cm so that means no good assault rifles whatsover
