In the distant future, is communism inevitable? Assuming all labor becomes fully automated, no one will be able to sell their labor to capitalists. There could be no social classes.

Pic mildly related.
>>
Labor will never become fully automated.
>>
>>69081432

star trek tech made comunism easier to implement with the use of replicators and infinite resources from space ore

greed thus the desire for money was gone

until that level of tech exists capitalism is the only way
>>
>>69081752
This. Communism only works when everything you need for a happy life is unlimited.
>>
>>69081525
For manual labor specifically, what could not be automated? I'm talking sci fi tier automation, maybe even android slaves. There would still be white collar jobs like engineers and programmers (at least until AI takes off) but not everyone is smart enough to do those jobs. The majority of people who would otherwise provide manual labor would be unable to work.
>>
>>69081752
So in other words, yes.

Why didn't these morons just beam nukes onto Borg ships?
>>
>>69082467
Shields.

And full-yield photon torpedoes are more destructive and more stable than nuclear weapons.
>>
Is it really communism? I think their society advanced to the point where everything became free.
>>
>>69081752
Why does gold pressed latinum exist then?
>>
>>69082763
to trade with the rest of the galaxy
>>
>>69082763
Trading with external societies that still deal in mercantile economics.
>>
>>69081432

Communism only works in heaven, where they don't need it, and hell, where they already have it.

Communism will only work if the world is already a paradise and scarcity is eliminated.
>>
>>69082763
also gold pressed latinum wasn't replicatable. The gold can be replicated but not the latinum that was inside the bar.

Because they don't consider individuals a threat. The second they detect the pattern of a live warhead, they're going to just pop it right back where it came from.

There are some things that can't be replicated, goods and services that are hard to acquire, etc, this a non replicable currency was created

Is that why there are no Australians?
>>
>>69081906
Instead of communism is would be far better to essentially make 'minimum wage' work to be some form of structured education, with the more complex 'subject matter' paying more, and ACTUAL useful jobs would pay substantially more than that. It would enrich the general public and ensure we don't have a larger amount of idiots living off of gibs and people who want to work instead of partake in the education could be rewarded for doing so.

Australia gets annexed and becomes New Holland lmao

Better question: physical projectiles aren't stopped by borg shields, so why didn't the feddies/anyone with a fucking brain think of slapping railguns onto a dedicated fleet of borg dunkers?

>>69083036
In STO Earth Space Dock (about the same size as a colony) gets blown up like, three times. In DS9 the breen actually attack earth. Not once did the attacking force realize "hey, if I tractor beam this thing in the general direction of San Francisco it becomes an extinction level event".
>>
>>69081525
This. I don't understand people's issues with automation. It frees up people to do more difficult/intellectual work. We'd be loving like Mormons if it wasn't for automation
>>
>>69083275
In addition to this, we wouldn't remove capitalism so the selling of art, games, creating sites (anything entrepreneurial, really) would still be a thing of course.
>>
>>69083437
We've already got too many fuckers who want to be intellectuals, and we already extract the best and brightest from around the world to compensate for our own trash education.

Why would you want even more people to sit around college podiums arguing about whether table salt is triggering.

There's no reason to assume that the machines won't seek to exterminate humans as the machines will rapidly learn that humans are irrational and destructive
>>

>In the distant future, is communism inevitable?
No, because communism belongs in the distant past.

Cavemen:
smell bad
can't do agriculture, everyone starves with them in charge
club and smash everyone and everything they don't like
bad architectural style

Communists:
smell bad
can't do agriculture, everyone starves with them in charge
club and smash everyone and everything they don't like
bad architectural style

Marx was right about there existing a "primitive communism". However he was wrong about everything else.

In the original series people still had jobs, I assume somebody had to take out the trash in the TNG federation, since Data was the only robot.

Except the exocomps in that one episode.
>>
>>69081752
Correct. First thing you learn about economics before demand and supply is scarcity.

why do you think they will never allow us to leave earth. Even the idea of space exploration is considered "white manifest destiny bullshit" by progressive multiculturalist drones.

One thing that does scare me is this talk about building a resort on the moon for the elite.

Think MOONRAKER - the James Bond movie where a rich industrialist wants to poison the earth and then bring back the "perfect people" to repopulate it.

STAR TREK ISN'T COMMUNISM STAR TREK TAKES PLACE POST-SCARCITY

I'm not typing up another explanation you people make these threads every fucking week, so if you want one search for this gif in the archive.
>>
>>69081752
Wouldn't that not really be communism though? Economics is based on scarcity and how to best divide the resources. In a world of replicators and unlimited space ore, aren't all economic theories (at least current ones) irrelevant?

Also the Federation is just glorified Imperialism that takes control of resource hubs in exchange for "allowing" other races into the fold.

Everyone gets gibsme but has to follow rules and if they want any real status they have to work in a federation role. They have to assimilate culturally except for some superficial quirks.

The Federation is just a less efficient version of the Borg that gives the illusion of voluntary association.

We are living in a post scarcity age. No real hunger, people who can't afford the latest iPhone are considered poor.

There will ever be things that only SOME people can afford. Thus, Capitalism will never die and this is why ST itself eventually canned the commie bullshit and started using credits/latinum and trade to be less crackpot.
>>

For the Jew Ferengi of course.
