Japanese society is almost exactly the same as Swedish society.
Social cohesion and avoidance of conflict are of the utmost importance. To avoid accusations of racism or civil unrest, society would bend over backwards to avoid the conflict.
Sweden started out as fairly conservative, only because that was the path of least resistance. When the refugees came, they became radically left, again, because it was the path of least resistance.
