b-but Canadian anon, you live in the socialist paradise of free healthcare!
I live in the shithole of wait times, rationing, and paying for the bypass on some fatass out of my pockets while I can't get a doctor.
You can't have a "right" to something with a perpetually increasing cost. Either you pay for it yourself, or the state cuts you off eventually.

Petty wedge issues like gay marriage and abortion.
Us young fucks are usually supportive of both so we lean Democrat.
They're both the libertarian-ish side of their parties, the problem was that Paul had to run against like 13 other people in the most nasty GOP convention in recent history.
Sanders just had to run against a nobody and corruption personified. Sorry, Randbros. He's still young. It ain't over yet for his side of the GOP.

It's a shame that Rand Paul is a manlet. His policies are good, but he'll never be a president with that height.

Just because their conscious says something doesn't make it right or valid.
Also, they are so dependent working for anything is unappealing. And having a minimum task/skill based entry level is sufficient to earn as much as a doctor or college graduates.

>>69041005

>>69045202
>what about policemen and firemen, are they slaves? why universal law enforcement paid by taxes but not health care?
People in the USA don't have the right to police or firemen. If everyone in the USA suddenly had the "right" to healthcare, what would happen if someone was injured and needed immediate medical attention but no doctors were working at the time? The government would either need to force a doctor to work under threat of violence if he didn't, violating his basic human rights or the injured person wouldn't be able to receive medical attention, infringing on his "right" to healthcare.
>>69044162

>>69043171
It would be more accurate to relate this to something like a mechanic who refuses to work on somebody's car and the mechanic gets arrested. You know, a private service being forced to be offered to the public.
To Rand, it's not that people shouldn't receive treatment or that doctors should purposefully turn people away. It's the principle that you are forcing someone to provide for someone else, which is slavery.
I think it's neat how Rand turns the usual argument against Libertarianism ("what about roads" -> subjective government limitations) on Bernie. Today health care is a right. Tomorrow there might be the argument for the right to some other private good.

confirmed for bootlicker. of course taxes are bad for the rich and wealthy, they'll pay the most. on the other hand, the people who benefit are the poor. every other advanced country in the world has implemented a single payer system with substantially lower costs and universal availability. try harder, corporate cocksucker

From the tax foundation:
>According to the Tax Foundation’s Taxes and Growth Model, the plan would significantly increase marginal tax rates and the cost of capital, which would lead to 9.5 percent lower GDP over the long term.
>On a static basis, the plan would lead to 10.56 percent lower after-tax income for all taxpayers and 17.91 percent lower after-tax income for the top 1 percent. When accounting for reduced GDP, after-tax incomes of all taxpayers would fall by at least 12.84 percent.

Of course, but it's the left that brings up the point that "healthcare is a right" to begin with.

the millennial divide, which is the reason grouping them together is a retarded notion
A right, in its normal original meaning is something you simply should have and no one can restrict or take away from you.
Originally 'rights' only meant natural 'god-give' rights of pursuit of happiness etc, which is something like saying everyone has a right as humans to pursue happiness because thats just a basic characteristic of the human condition so it would be retarded to restrict it.
Then it morphed into laws and legality =rights.
Then it morphed into MUH FEELINGS= rights.
So now rights= I just feel like i should have it.
Saying people should have healthcare as a right is disingenuous, either it means people should have the right to pursue healthcare which is a redundant statement.
Or it means what socialist fags really intend, you FORCE healthcare on people with the excuse 'its a right' ala obamacare.

What you are thinking about is FREE healthcare.
Rand is talking about the RIGHT to health care.

When its a right it means there must be a doctor for you no matter what if you get sick or injured. If I had a right to Guns instead of BEARING guns that I get a gun no charge. Same with Healthcare. I get it no matter what making Doctors become commodities instead of a job as it is not necessary to pay them

>every other advanced country in the world has implemented a single payer system
You're objectively wrong. Here's a list of countries with single-payer healthcare: Australia, Canada, Spain, Taiwan, and the UK. And Australia is debatable, because they set fees in a hybrid model. Are there some countries with single-payer healthcare? Of course, but they have very different cultures from America, where we believe in a smaller government with less services but also less regulation of people's lives. If you don't like it, get the fuck out. There are plenty of legal immigrants who would love to take your place and actually work to better themselves instead of sucking at the government's teat.

Canada got it right. If a libertarian wants to win they should run as democrat. Take the stance "yeah I'm liberal on gay rights and stuff just like you guys, but hey, you should be liberal on guns and economics too"
And for the fucktards that are unaware, liberal on guns means support gun rights/oppose gun control, and liberal on economics means free market (be it capitalism, socialism, or a mix of the two).
Rand does not want to make everything free.
He's a libertarian and knows economics unlike sanders

So the Doctors all around Europe and in Canada are slaves right?

That might have worked like a decade or so ago, but it's way too late now. Democrats are all about progressive shit. Conservatives can be swayed on social issues; it just takes some time.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with FPTP. The GOP consists of small government libertarians, foreign policy hawks, Christian values voters, Chamber of Commerce fiscal conservatives, and authoritarians. The Democratic Party consists of Third Way classical liberals, conservative Dixiecrats, and the twin growing cancers of far left social activists and "Bernie" style economic denialists. Almost without fail, the two parties elect candidates who represent the most palatable sections of these two parties, and then of them, the more capable or more palatable candidate is generally elected President.
Compare this to countries like France and Poland, which have instant runoff and as a result, fluctuate wildly between the far left and the far right. They never elect a candidate who appeals to the most people because people do not have to vote strategically. If you're willing to be extremely unhappy half the time, then runoff voting works, but first past the post will almost always elect a candidate that the fewest people have a problem with.

This is mostly true, although as an Austrian I can confirm otherwise in my case because our presidential election's favorites to win are either a member of a party that doesn't get more than 10% of the votes in general elections or a party-less candidate. The thing is that our president doesn't have the legislative and executive power that the US-President has and acts more as a representator like the Queen but with more political ties.
Rand doesn't pander to the leeches of society by promising them free shit at the expense of the work in class. People dont want freedom because freedom entails personal accountability, self-reliance and hard work.

exactly this, 'right' is a very specific term the left likes to throw around for brownie points

poor Rand's downfall is that he thinks anyone but him in the room cares about the constitution
bless him
Because both Rand Paul and Ron Paul are crazy capitalists that want to give all the freedom to businesses. Businesses that exploit it's workforce, businesses that will take every opportunity to make profit with no repercussions from the government for unethical practices, businesses that basically make us all peasants in the eyes of our employers.

Article is bullshit. Every good damn hospital I've been to in the frozen wasteland you wait so fucking long. My wife had to wait almost a year to get an ultrasound. An ultrasound to check for cancer , which the doctors thought she might have.

On top of that, he wants to get rid of all social programs, social programs that help Americans live and put food on the table.
As a New Zealander, I'm very fortunate for having (mostly) free healthcare here. I probably would have been drowning in $100k+ debt if I'd have been living in the USA.

Bernie directly addressed a major concern of the youth: College. Rand did not.
Otherwise though, as far as Republican candidates went Rand's highest popularity WAS among the young.
Young people who were standing with Rand.. are more likely to have switched to Bernie after Rand dropped out instead of Cruz.
>>69047452
That's bullshit, I remember being a kid and having to wait several hours to see a doctor at the hospital with my mom.
It just turned out that I ate too may carrots and that's why my skin was turning orange. I just remember the conversation being very brief yet my mom and I were there past midnight.
Young people like gibsmedats
Rand tried to sell a hard truth that social security is insolvent, rising college tuition is due to government subsidies, and that individualism would trump government assistance.
Bernie just says that the rich are the reason why shit is fucked which is a much easier thing for young people to digest.
Rand probably had most of his support split between Cruz voters (tea party) and Trump/ Some of Sanders (Meme voters)

>There are plenty of legal immigrants who would love to take your place
Off-topic, but this gave me an idea.
What if we make some sort of citizen exchange program to make immigrating easier.
The system would have a list of people who want to immigrate by country and for every foreign citizen we accept, their country of origin would have to accept one of our citizens, but if there is nobody who want to go then nobody can get in.
That would let many Europeans in since a lot of Americans would like to live there, but wouldn't let many Africans in since nobody wants to live in a shithole.
