Banter aside, does this guy have any good/respectful credentials?

I've done fuck all research but it seems like he partied for 25 years then coasted into politics because of the Treudau name.
>>
Because his dad was a PM worshipped by the Liberal elite (big L Liberal, the Liberal Party) and pushed in schools as the ideal PM for about 3 decades. It's partially justified, since Pierre Trudeau basically wrote our modern constitution, but still.
>>
>>69032689
Because it was 2015.
>>
>>69032689

If you want a serious answer it's because Harper was the worst leader we've had since fucking Diefenbaker. He fucked the country in dozens of ways, and retarded conservatives kept voting for him. He took the greatest economic surplus the country had ever seen and fucking squandered it away while constantly taking credit for how well Canada was doing after the 2008 crash. He did everything behind closed doors, and he was a narcissistic wack-job. He took all the pictures of other Prime Ministers down in the parliament building and replaced them with pictures of himself, and he officially changed the name of the government from 'The Government of Canada' to 'The Harper Government'. For fuck's sake, his party literally committed voter fraud in every single election he was part of, and it's widely known he did so.

Anyone, literally anyone would have been better than him. Trudeau just had a better chance than Mulcair, so people voted for him strategically.

Make no mistake. He didn't get in because people wanted him. He got in because they wanted Harper *out*.

That's exactly what happened.
>>
>>69034897
No. He was the MP of Papineau for about 3 years and that's about it. I think the plan was to keep him in reserve since there was an aura of inevitability around him, but the Liberal's attempts at electing someone post Paul Martin/Chretien were failures (Ignatieff, Dion), so they realized they had to bring the big guns out just to survive as a party.

It was basically a joint effort to get rid of Harper. There were two options to beat Harper which were NDP and Liberal. NDP was neck in neck with the liberals but lost a little ground. Then people went on about "strategic voting" and NDP voters turned Liberal.

I voted for Harper but it was a real shit election. The worst possible outcome ended up winning.

I fear that the US might vote in Hillary and we'll be one big cucked North America.

I despise him but voted liberal because I like infrastructure spending. Also Harper sucked and the Cons are exactly the same in terms of immigration.

Trudeau's a national embarrassment but at least his cucking is too obvious to ignore so hopefully it causes more normies to wake up.

The country might be in a healthier place to fight back on the cultural front after having to deal with him for a few years. Canada needs to get itself together and it wasn't happening under the last administration.

INTRODUCING A BANK RECAPITALIZATION SCHEME

"To protect canadian taxpayers in the unlikely event of a large bank failure, the government is proposing to implement bail-in regime that would reinforce that the bank shareholders and creditors are responsible for the banks risks - not the taxpayers. This would allow authorities to convert eligible long term debt of a failing systematically important bank into common shares to recapitalize the bank and allow it to remain open and operating. Such a measure is in line with international efforts to address the potential risks to the financial system and broader economy of institutions perceived as 'too-big-to-fail'.

The government is proposing to introduce framework legislation for the regime along with accompanying enhancements to Canada's bank resolution toolkit. Regulations and guidelines setting out further features of the regime will follow. This will provide stakeholders with an additional opportunity to comment on the elements of the proposed regime."
pg. 223, liberal budget 2016

>yfw when you have money in the bank - you are technically a creditor of the bank
>yfw all they have to do is give you common shares to "pay" you back for taking your money

Most of his platform was like that
>reform the senate
>reform the electoral system
>legalize weed
>maybe balance budget eventually possibly but not soon
>increase military spending
>include the west in decision making
His party has been promising that for well over half a century, and in spite of having a majority government for 90% of that period have done jack shit or the opposite. He appointed 20-something senators a few weeks ago. He said nope to electoral reform. He blamed muh treaties for not being able to legalize weed. He quadrupled his promised deficit (40 billion instead of 10 billion) when prior to his election there was a surplus on the books for this year, and last year if not for the oil crash. He's completely ignored the demands and concerns of the western provinces; even with ridiculous increases in government spending..

He is the epitome of everything wrong with Canadian politics.

He failed to invest in infrastructure and alternative energies. He also failed to diversify the Canadian economy and relied entirely on oil exports, which, to simplify, is largely responsible for the crash of the Canadian economy.

He was also part of the backroom dealing in the TPP, and every party except NDP was for that, even though it went against our interests.

The Conservatives also have a history of pandering to the Prairies to the detriment of the rest of the country, and as an /out/ist I wanted to maintain the natural resources of the West as opposed to destroying areas of it to put in oil pipelines.

That's my perception of things anyways. There is no party that represents my interests, so electoral reform was a big point for literally anybody except Conservatives.

I hope in the future we can stop the influx of refugees and other immigrants that are oversaturating our job market and pricing Canadians out of owning homes in the cities they grew up in.

Not having to rely on oil as a main form of energy is important so that we don't destroy our natural resources, like our fresh water, forests, and wetland ecosystems. I said I'm an /out/ist, so yeah, I actually appreciate nature. If that makes me a 'hippy faggot' then, sure thing bud.

I understand that the Conservative party is seen as "Right-wing" and therefore "good", but they're basically the most myopic parts of that side of the spectrum without the benefits. Conservatives are generally fiscally responsible, yet Harper at best delayed the Canadian recession for eight years instead of preventing it or minimizing it.

Yes it's first-past-the-post, and has a disproportionate representation based on where the voters are from. The eastern provinces get the lions share with very little for the West, which means our voice is not heard and we cannot affect change, which is a problem.

Again, this is how I see things, but we don't even have objective media anymore, so all the info I get is suspect at best.

solar energy is a failure, it always fails because you have to maintain the panels.

Libcuck detected.

You're forgetting the Green party.

If you want real change, that's who you vote for. Elizabeth May would be crashing this country with no survivors.
>tfw we will never have an actual apocalypse because nobody ever votes for the green party
>>
Trudeau is a fucking pussy, harper wasnt a pussy but he was a money grubbing robot, tom was a fucking commie who would have flooded the west with Chinese, and not for building more railroads lol.

And nothing will get done. Healthcare is neglected. Nothing but debt and way too generous of babby bonus and refugees. No corporate taxes are paid nor will they be. We're fucked

It's the Kevin Rudd effect.

It takes people around 18 months to realise their mistake.

Canada will end up with massive numbers of refugees and massive debt before then, though.

I voted Mulcair because thats what i thought the "anyone but Harper" crowd strategically voting for but w.e. Seriously Harper was awful.

They're not fucking communists. Why are you here?
>>
>>69049252
Pretty sure a lot of people are kind of hoping he fucks up just so we can trigger another election.
Harper basically fucked Canada simply by being a selfish prick and refusing to leave the conservative party even though everybody fucking hated him. I can't believe his own party just didn't beat the shit out of him, it's a seriously douchey thing to do.
