General election polls literally mean nothing until the primaries are over and the candidates start debating. Some modern examples, Carter was beating Reagan and Bush Sr. was beating Clinton but look what happened.
Polls in primary are highly random.
Popular vote and polls don't mean anything.
What does matter is electoral vote.
Trump needs the same states as Romney + FL, OH, VA and he whens. All three of those states are swing states that are barely Clinton.
If he picks up someone like Kasich as a VP, its all over and Clinton loses.
Take a look at Clinton's previous spread that got lost.
And these same polls say Kasich will beat Clinton. Yet Kasich will never be the nominee.

In July he was regarded as a joke candidate, no one seriously thought he would win, and he was useful only to rally a bit more excitement during the primaries.
Around October, this changed. He received constant news coverage. He was no longer a joke candidate to the public. He still was not going to beat Clinton if they ever ran in a direct race, but there was awareness of him as an option. People were more willing to hypothetically support him when he was not the actual cemented option.
Now he is the cemented option. The question now is not hypothetical. So people look at what he's saying and they have decided they do not like it.
Trump is not electable. If you believe he is electable, you are out of touch. Serious attack ads have not been run against him yet, just small efforts by his own party. Hilary has not even really begun her GE campaign. And she's already winning. By a lot.
Wait until the general election. Wait until you get to see Trump's quotes.
The Republican party will lose more of the Hispanic vote. The Republican party will fail to make any inroads with the Blacks who they have lost for forever. Everything the party needed to do to win has not been done.
